I thought its would be interesting to take a shot of one subject but with 10 different fixed focal length prime lenses, ranging from 14mm to 1100mm, so people can get an idea of what magnification each give.
The ten lenses were:
Sigma 14mm f3.5
Tamron SP 17mm f3.5
Carl Zeiss 28mm f2.8 Distagon T*
Nikon 35mm f1.4 Ai-S
Canon FL 55mm f1.2
Nikon 105mm f2.5 Ai-S
Sigmatel Multi Scalematic 135mm f1.8
Carl Zeiss Jena 180mm f2.8 Sonnar
Tamron SP 300mm f2.8 LD IF
Tamron SP 300mm f2.8 LD IF +Tamron SP 2x BBAR teleconverter (600mm)
MTO 1100mm f10.5.
All lenses except the MTO and the Tamron 300/2.8 were set to f5.6...The Tamron was set to f2.8 so with the teleconverter is was a 600mm f5.6.
The MTO is a mirror lens with a fixed f10.5 aperture.
Sorry no 85mm, but I dont have one I can use at infinity anymore.
Man, that Sigma 135/1.8 of yours is the sharpest of its species that I've seen anywhere. Looks like considerable CA on the CZJ 180/2.8, but sharp nonetheless. I think a Zeiss Planar 85/1.4 would fit very nicely into your kit. Maybe even a Mamiya C 80/2.8N + Mirex, if you want to take a walk on the wild side.

I've just sold my Zeiss Planar 85mm/1.4. I only have the Helios 40 85mm f1.5 and the Canon FD 85mm f1.2 left. The Helios is stuck wo at f1.5 so I could'nt use that, when the other lenses were nearly all set to f5.6, and the Canon cant be used at infinity, so I could'nt use that either.

From f4-f5.6 it razor sharp and the bokeh is'nt bad either. I try to avoid using it wide open, though it is sometimes possible to get good results with it WO.

Thanks for this great illustration, you said "Sorry no 85mm, but I dont have one I can use at infinity anymore.". Can u explain to me how the lack of being able to use at infinity relates to the other lenses u used? Thanks joanlvh
Because all the other shots were taken at or very near infinity focus. The 100 metres or so distance to the subject dictated that.
My Canon FD 85mm f1.2 would only focus to just past the garden hedge in the foreground. My Helios 40 85mm f1.2 can focus to infinity but not at f5.6, like the other lenses were set to. In fact, it cannot be stopped down at all as it has no Iris anymore (the Iris blades were already damaged beyond repair when it was delivered to me, so I had no choice but to remove them) and as I wanted to keep all the lenses at the same aperture if possible then that ruled out the Helios.

Blimey my memory is getting bad!...You've just reminded me that I have a lovely Mamiya 645 80mm f2.8 N, which will focus to infinity and stop down too...If the sun comes out I will take an 80mm sample with it.
