This could be the lens that convinces me at last - provided they get it wright! it could also make them lots of money, at least I hope as they do deserve it.
I'm noticing that the out of focus highlights are exhibiting green fringing (Lateral Chromatic Aberration?).
For this price, I'd like to see a comparison to the Nikon 35 f/1.4 AI-S, which seems to be comparable in price. Though the Nikon definitely has a different (less smooth) bokeh.
Samyang Optics has released the final version of its 35mm F1.4 lens in Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Samsung NX, Sony Alpha and Four-thirds mounts. Announced at Photokina 2010, the company said it has revised its design since then. It retains the underlying 12 element in 10 group design announced at that time. It will sell at a recommended retail price of €379.
i'm so hoping this lens is going to hit the reset button for what people think they have to spend on a new 35/1.4... (and this coming from someone who just bought a nikon 35/1.4G.)
Now that the price has been listed as over $500, I'm thinking I can settle on a Nikon 35 f/2 Ai-S. I just can't see myself spending that much money on a 35 f/1.4.

Anyone know what focal length their rumored T/S lens is going to be?
That rumor got started when a video taken with Samyang lenses showed what looked like a T/S-effect. I'm guessing it was simply made in post processing.

I am guessing the delay might be due to few last minute changes to its design to improve performance. Last time they did that with the 14mm, they ended up with a miraculous lens for the price. I am really liking their approach. Produce only a few lenses but make them excel in their specialization, while keeping the prices low by keeping it MF-only.
Now only if they made a prime in 18-21mm range and perhaps a relatively fast prime in 135mm-200mm range...

OK, I don't see a contender to Zeiss 35/1.4 magic in these pictures, my wait is over. It's a good lens though.
Everyone that are already in love with ZE 35/1.4 would like the Samyang to be clearly less good than the ZE. It would be ..humm... reassuring
Reality is the first samples provided for both are not comparable at all.
The ZE will be probably the best. But you have to wait to know what the Sam can provide.
I can say I would also like the Samyang not (?) exists to order the ZE 35/1.4 right now.
My Sam 14 is fantastic. My ZE21 is also fantastic. But for now, I wait. Hardly but i wait.
The samyang until now is for me still a contender to ZE, despite the price ratio and the fame of the two brands.

I think it's interesting that Samyang are describing this lens as high contrast. That is the one thing that their 85 1.4 is not. Perhaps they are going after Zeiss with this one with regard to rendering quality. I'm really curious to see what this lens can do.
