p.2 #1 · show your studio!

That's why it looked familiar; my patrol route used to take me right past it. I work mostly Snohomish County and the Eastside now, so except for Mariners game nights I don't get into the SoDo area much any more.

That would be fun. Too bad I work weekend evenings, because I never seem to be free when others are. Life in the public service sector.

Anyway, good luck with the studio.

Since almost all of my professional work is as an in-house photographer for a company I didn't have a real studio space up until recently. I currently partner with a local small business and use their unique office space after hours for any of my studio work.

My studio space consists of a single main shooting area (usually shooting with white seamless or other backdrops) and also other unique rooms in the back/basement of the building.

Dsphipley those distressed areas look like they could be a lot of fun. I would love to find an old building like that to shoot in.

Here is my studio. The next thing to do is rip up the carpet and put down wood or vinyl. My 1st pics from there are in the people forum.

It looks like you have 10-foot ceilings down there! Most basement studios don't come close to that; it must be nice to have the much height.

Yes they are nearly 10ft 9'10" actually but close enough. The room is 14' wide by 25' long so it really works out great for the studio and it is a basement so it is a win/win

My guess would be that you're not a part-time senior portrait shooter.

lol.. you guess correctly. I do commercial work based largely around the aircraft industry. Another photographer and I share this space since 80% of our work is on location. For that work, the favorite feature of the space is a huge, overhead door that allows us to back in trucks and load/unload for location project.

Do you have ramp access at an airport from your building?

That boom arm is long gone and has been replaced with a ceiling based arm that hangs down.

This is still basically how it is today.

Cheers,
Sid

Hi Sid,
Great studio! I remember it from when I visited you a while ago(I sold you a 135 f2). You have more pictures on the walls and looks more cozy now. I'm also thinking to get a ceiling based arm because sometimes the boom is such a pain...
Good luck with everything!

How ya been? Are you still in MA? Where are you shooting?
