You xontinue to put your Contax G45 to excellent use, Paul! I intend to get one, as well as a G 90. Great lenses, great package, not too much money. IMHO the best alt route for NEX
Thanks...
I'm actually going to sell my G45...
I just found a black one instead.........

Any of you guys that have gone from a NEX-5 to a NEX-5N, can you please share your experience? Was it worth it? What do you find was the biggest difference?
I have a 5 now, but I'm considering a 5n, To me, the most important thing that matters is overall image quality in RAW shooting. The JPEG engine doesn't really matter to me. I know people talk about a slight upgrade in JPEG quality but I've seen nothing really mentioned about the RAW images.
Right now I've got 4 cameras (NEX-5, GF1, M8, X100) and I need to narrow it down to ONE, or my wife is gonna kill me. No, I'm not heavily invested in lenses, I just have my 2 Leica M mount lenses (CV 35/2.5 and Zeiss ZM 50/2) which can be used on any of those bodies, except for the X100.
najibs, I had a 5, and now I own a 5N. The 5N IQ is better in every respect. Better colours, contrast, detail. It is also much better with WA corner performance, and metering is much less often foled than it was on the 5. This week-end there will be a FM meeting in Berlin, where a friend and I will shoot a 3, a C3 and a 5N, and will publish the comparison. All RAW, with good alt glass (Zeiss, Leica)
So far from what I can gather, in blue skies at infinity focus, the corners get color shift. This might be because infinity is when the rear element is nearly touching the sensor.
For my own experience, the G28/2.8 has some vignetting (even at f5.6), rather than color shift. I noticed these even when I use the lens with film body, Contax G2. This has to do with the Biogon design.
You're right, I think I over reacted but weird stuff seems to happen with blue skies however I can't 100% nail it to color shift, it might just be vignetting!
I just walked out for 20 minutes and these test shots seem to indicate there are no issues with smearing or color shift at both close and far with F2.8 or F5.6.

If my images turn up as good as yours I'm sure I will be happy. And as for the possible blue/light sky issue, we wont have that problem in this country for the next 6 months or so
Its an interesting lens, I think it's strength is like the 45mm F2 G in that it shines in close to mid range.
What is somewhat surprising is just how different 67.5mm and 42mm feel in everyday use. Helps me justify keeping both lenses.
My next test will be if I can use the 45mm hood on the 28mm. It might vignette on full frame but I'm hoping with APS-C, the vignetting will be minimal if any more.

You won't be disappointed with your Contax G28/2.8 lens. It has become the 'standard' lens for my 5N.
Sounds good, I love that focal range for "my" type of photography. And as it happened I found three old EXAKTA mount lenses in a box for old Camera junk yesterday. Two Carl Zeiss Jena and one ISO Göttingen Westrocolor. 135/4, 50/2.8 and 50/1.9. So I just ordered an adapter and therefor will have some options to play with ad compare - I have absolutely no idea what to expect from those.
I am also going to try the Samyang 14/2.8 (which is excellent on the 5D2 BUT WITH corner issues that should be gone for an APS-C) and the truly amazing Samyang 35/1.4. But both are HUGE.
EDIT:
