There are a some good lenses around that, but few are really cheap. The the Contax G 28mm might be the most logical choice, although I am not sure how good the boke is. You can find it for less than 400 Euro on eBay.

One possibility would be the Contax Zeiss Distagon 35mm f/2.8, wfrank.

or Contax 28mm f2.8. It's very cheap, sharp and I've seen some
great pictures taken with this lens. It's widely available, for example:

Thank you kindly all three, it sure looks as I am going for Zeiss after all then

Is there be a simple explanation of the difference between Biogon and Distagon? The first one seem a bit more expensive.

symmetrical versus retrofocal design. one is a much smaller rangefinder lens the other is an slr lens.

Sid, in general (for me) there are several things; control highlights (don't overexpose), control shadows if you want detail, increase saturation of lower luminosity ranges (vibrance does this quite well), increase mid tone contrast (clarity does this, as does the shadow/highlight control in PS).
Mike

I dont have or use PS, I recently got aperture 3 and still playing with it. Anyways thanks for giving out that info.

Just got a 5N. I went out with it yesterday with my u4/3 to compare and didn't get anything I liked. Mainly I think as I'm not used to composing on an LCD. A bit better luck today but I plan to get the EVF.

12mm CV (sorry about the excessive tonemap)

Really like this one - nothing excessive here in my eyes. As I understand the 5N sensor allows more noiseless lifting of underexposed areas than most, incl 5DMkII (!).

But what is a "12mm CV"? Any idea how the not-so-celebrated Sony 16mm stands up against this - or other ultra-wide-angle options?

Just ebay:ed a mint Contax Biogon 28/2.8 (thank you Carsten :-), now I just need an adapter and the 5N

Thanks Heinz! As nobody has done it yet, it would be nice if you brought your NEX for our meeting. Then we could publish a comparison of NEX 3/5, C3 and 5N RAWs. To the best of my knowledge, no comparison between the two generations of NEX has been published yet.
It would also be an opportunity to compare your Leica 60 Macro and the Contax C/Y 35-70.

Apropos Contax 35-70/3.4: mine is going back It arrived with a nasty scratch on the rear element. At least the previous owner had cleaned it carefully (so he knew I didn't have to), leading him to readily believe me that I hadn't done it myself! I am always scared of this, and in fact have fallen into that trap once, being accused of causing exactly what I was unhappy with. The other guy never noticed it, and was sure it was not there. Ah well, the flaw was minor and I kept the lens (the Nikkor 16mm f/2.8 AF-D Fisheye, btw). The rest of my transactions had a happy end, almost 300.
