Mike, what is this 28-70 C/Y? I wasn't aware of such a lens... great pic, too! As is the one with your 12mm CV. No colour shift at all on that one?

Thanks Philippe,
Here's the 28-70. Not generally as well regarded as the venerable 35-70 but it's T* coated and I think with the corners cropped it may be a fine lens for Nex. Also has CF but is twist zoom not push-pull. I have to use it more to see if it will stay in my NEX bag.

No colour shift with the 12mm that I could see although both were 3 shot blends.

I went back to Lightroom and reset all of the changes I'd made to one of the images used for the blend in the 2nd 12mm shot. No corner colour cast that I can see.

Nice shot Chris, how cropped is that?

One more wide open from the G 28mm F2.8

Bokeh is busy but tolerable and not to ringy.

FlyPenFly,
I cropped like 2 inches off each side on the upper left. Its about 75% of the original frame.

Thank you for the 12mm images! It's a lens I'm interested in and it's good to see it holds up into the corners, at least good enough as far as I can see from the web sized images here.

Here's the full frame for reference (also note this is SOOC "normal" except for the resize...my example above is processed differently)

The working distance at 55mm seems to be approx 6-7 inches or so, I'm not sure if I got that close on this particular shot, as the bee was moving around fairly quickly.

looks good, i think i like the uncropped shot better.

here's a couple from a redwood forest with the rokkor 24/2.8:

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6121/6206242632_0928bd8cdb_b.jpg
and a stitch with the same lens :http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6163/6205752429_f148a33705_o.jpg
i find it incredibly difficult to take a compelling shot of these trees that captures their size. there is no room to get proper framing and using an ultra wide angle just creates to much perspective distortion. i need to find some that are on the edge of a clearing i guess.

here's a shot or two with the sony 16 as well, which i continue to be less than pleased with:

Zoran....to answer your question on the last page, the color shift is gone from with the 5N & ZM 25 f/2.8 combo. I can't post now, but I have pics taken with that combo

Huh, 79 pages and plenty of inspiring images! I just got an interest in a 5N as a tiny but capable friend to my 5DMkII. I'd like to get it with a fast normalish (around 24-32) lens with great image quality. I expect to use MF and an adapter of some sort.

Is there such thing with a good combination of:
1) size (ie not very big)
2) price (~less than the camera cost)
3) shallow DOF with a lovely bokeh (guessing I need ~F/2.8 or faster)
4) not totally unusual (i.e. lenses with a reasonable chance to turn up on ebay etc)

Suggestions much appreciated.

(...and by all means, feel free to message me if you got tired of such lens, for the first time I am thinking of buying the lens before the camera )
