FPF, I briefly had a G 90 before it was stolen along with my NEX 5, and it is a special lens. Its stellar reputation is well deserved, even by comparison with a Leica 90mm Summarit f:2.0. I still have some pics somewhere if that can help you decide. Not that I hate the G 28, my present walk-about lens...
i decided a while ago that before i get a zm 50/1.5 i ought to try out a jupiter-3 to make sure i'm happy with the look and see whether i really need to spend $900 extra dollars for the better color, contrast, and build of the zeiss. finally found one that i didn't need to pay $40 and 2 months in shipping on, and got it yesterday. it's in shockingly good shape (for 50 year old aluminum lens) and is much sharper in the center wide open then i expected. the edges not so much – i don't think it'll ever make it as a landscape lens for me, but i've only taken one landscape shot yet. the real surprise is that the color and contrast aren't bad at all, i thought it might end up being a b&w only lens. i really love the tiny size (smaller than the contax g 45/2) and all the aperture blades for mid aperture shooting without any pesky hexagons, octagons, triangle, or what have you. anyway a few test shots from around the yard: http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6162/6171909565_16dc1434f0_o.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6151/6172439090_b8064620b3_o.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6151/6171909127_e72d58137c_o.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6152/6171909233_fd63e81b35_o.jpg

You obviously have a liking for pesky onion rings, sebboh! Congrats on your new lens!
as pen says, condom ring not onion ring. i only like it in certain situations, i certainly wouldn't use the lens wide open like that a great deal (the rings disappear when you stop down a bit). i do like the look for portraits though (especially b&w), the gentle transition to oof is great and with more distant backgrounds the rings aren't as distracting. it's also good for an old timey look since so many old famous photographs were taken with variations on this lens.

Congratulations on your new camera, Jason! Have fun! When you put some alt glass on your 5N, you are in for a treat. Contax G 28 and 45 can be had inexpensively and work wonders.... just sayin'....
Thanks Philipe! I have a few Rokkors, Taks, and a FL 55 1.2 I plan on using but the weather is pretty nasty here so no luck again today. Certainly plan on getting the G45 and G90. I may actually hold off and splurge for some CV lenses in M mount though as I just got a Ricoh GRX system and was planning on buying the M mount module as the sensor they have coupled with it is designed specifically for M mount glass and there is no AA filter so the output should be pretty good. Waiting for enough people to post pics using their's first to determine if its worth going that route as then I could have the lenses do double duty with the Nex as well...

Yeah, I would like to see bigger samples if possible.
If it exhibits just the astounding out of camera clarity and color separation as the 45, I'm all in.
I check flickr out daily with searches on what lenses I am interested in. Funny as it seems almost all that I come across are on a Nex body which makes the decision that much easier.
