Nice photos but it seems odd that you would post then in the 6500 thread.

I understand that. I wasn't sure cause I don't visit this site too often.... but I thought there might be a dedicated 6300 thread out there... just like there is a 6000 thread. I guess not though, I just did a quick search.

I personally think a thread would get more traffic if it was dedicated to all Sony a6xxx camera bodies, Both here on FM and other sites. Most of these threads sit for quite a while between posts. With that in mind I say post them up!

Does anyone use the 24-70GM on the A6500? I am frustrated by the AF of my A7ii for Kids and low light AF shooting like a dim studio. How does the A6500 perform in these situations? I am debating whether to buy into a second system (Olympics MFT or Nikon DSLR) or to find a way to get acceptable and reliable AF abd working speed with a Sony camera.

I would like to get some feedback on the battery performance of the A6000. My experience with the A6000 is that the battery drain is quite rapid (i.e., battery performance is not good). I set it to Airplane mode and mostly use the EVF instead of the LCD even though I read somewhere that the EVF drains the battery more than using the LCD.

My shooting style is such that I take a few multi Hi-speed shots and there may be a couple of minutes in between shots and I leave the camera "On" until it goes into sleep mode which I program in Menu for 2 minutes. Does turning the camera to "Off" help conserve battery power? Any recommendations?

Hi dalite, It has been a while since I took a walk with the A6000. But I too have it in Airplane mode and I set the viewer to lcd. The constant switching from lcd to evf was a drain on the battery. But when using the camera more, I never had an issue with the battery and only occasionally did I use the spare.

Thanks Micheal. So on Menu you go to Finder/Monitor and select one? I like to shoot using the EVF (just like as in DSLR). I'll try anyway.

Donīt have the 24-70, but had previously the A7ii, which has been replaced now by the A6500 and i can tell you that there is a difference in AF. It is much better in any situation. The lenses i used are the 28 f2.0 and the Batis 85. Low light shooting works fine, even better than any M4/3 that i had (Em5 ii and Pen F).

Have tried the GM on a friends A6000 and the focus was better than on A7rii

Now given that rii focus > 7ii focus,
And A6500 focus > A6000 focus

you might be in luck.

But this is supposed to be the year of dramatic AF improvement on Sony FF mirrorless. I guess we'll see..

Thank you both for your opinions.

I am also hoping for these improvements in the FF bodies. To be honest, I hate to invest money on bodies because they get old super fast and loose half of their value in a heartbeat. That's also the reason why I am probably never going to spend five grands on a potential A9 as long as I don't get paid for my work.

Actually, I am pretty happy with my A7II as a legacy lens and wide angle lens holder, it's just frustrating to see how I miss all that little funny moments of my little boy to the sluggish AF. I've read that the IQ of the A6300/A6500 is almost on par with the A7II, therefore it could be a great combination.

I am keen to wait for an A7iii but in that time, my boy grows up and many spontaneous moments will be lost until then.
