I've been thinking of getting the Tamron 150-600 in EF mount to use with my A6000 and Commlite adapter. I usually use MF for my other EF lenses with the Commlite/A6000 since the AF is slow and hunts a bit. How's the AF and IS (VC) with the Tamron/Commlite/A6000 combination?
BTW, I'm also in NJ (Asbury area) and we see a lot of those gulls here too...and Swans in the local lakes...lots of Swans.

Like other EF lenses, MF is much faster than AF. The accuracy isn't too bad, but it does hunt and and the speed is just not worth the trouble. The IS/VC works great and makes stabilizing this combo much easier. This was the first time out with it and I'm impressed with the IQ, but this definitely isn't going to do BIF! The results are better than with my 7D so I'm tempted to upgrade that or switch to A-mount with an A77II.
If you are serious about the Tamron, I'd recommend renting one first. The results are very good but the handling is tricky. I had to cradle the lens to balance the weight in my left hand and use my thumb to adjust the focus ring.
I shot this at the Edwin B. Forsythe refuge a little ways south of you last weekend. Also got a juvenile black crowned night heron and the usual assortment of fowl that winter there.
A few more from the set with the Gull I posted earlier... nothing spectacular, but decent results for the A6000 and the Tamron @ 600mm, manually focused.

Thanks, I found a local shop that has them in stock so I'll check one out.
