Season of Touit - Picture 23 Week 44, Wednesday - Brown
"When I originally started this season, I said that I would be exploring focal lengths that differ from my standard photography. While I've been doing just that with the Zeiss Touit 2.8/12 & Touit 2.8/50M, using these lenses have unconsciously introduced another theme into my work in this season. Looking at my Flickr-stream it becomes very clear that this other theme is color. Many of my shots have really been about simplifying the subject and let the colors emanate from my photographs. So, while I've been working with very different focal lengths, this season has also been me exploring what I can do with these 'new colors' that I get from Zeiss lenses. [...]"
Season of Touit - Picture 24 Week 44, Saturday - End of Season
"This is the last picture of Season of Touit and next week I will start a new season with a new theme. But before that I want to recapitulate what I've done and how it has affected with my photography. First of all, I've been enjoying this season quite a bit since working outside of my standard focal lengths has really been like a breath of fresh air. When I started my Touit journey I was actually a bit worried if I would find use for the ultra-wide Touit 2.8/12 – it was so different from my favorite focal length of 50mm (equivalent of 75mm on a full frame). Macro photography was also something that was entirely new for me and I wasn't sure if I would find any creative ideas when working at such a small scale of things with Touit 2.8/50M. To put it shortly, I have mostly learned my basics with 50mm lens (SEL50F18) and because of that I've been afraid to go for different focal lengths. I guess there are many others like me who prefer a certain focal length because they know they can 'get it work'. [...]"
Season of Photographic Eye - Picture 1 Week 45, Wednesday - Introducing the last season
"Tampere is also my home town and constitutes a creative limit of my last theme called Season of Photographic Eye. With this season I will be exploring the streets and other places of my home town. I will circulate small alleys, wander around town squares and explore other places of interest. The city of Tampere with its diversity will be my playground for the last season and I will be exploring it during the night time mostly. In some ways this theme is also dictated by the current natural season in Finland. This time of year in Finland there isn't a lot of light during the days, and if there is it's mostly grey and comes together with rain. It does set up a challenge for photography, but I hope to make it through until the snow comes. In effect, the last season will be a sort of street photography, but done with my way.
As I'm exploring the streets, I will also try to open up my photographic eye: a particular way of seeing things and subjects, which is partly subjective and partly cultural. I will try to explain to myself how I approach the photography the way I do. My aim is to make myself more conscious about it and hopefully offer some inspiration for others to contemplate their own photographic eye. [...]"
Snowboarder was kind enough to give me his JTec L bracket when he sold his Nex 7. I just sold my Nex 7 and want to keep the good Karma going by passing it along at no charge to another FMer with a Nex 7 and a tripod. If you want it, PM me. First come, first served. (I'll send it US Mail, CONUS only).
