Season of Summer Light Week 25, Wednesday - Picking up flowers
"Now that we (me and Sari) have finally learned to recognize some ordinary flowers, it has really stroked Aura as well. Where ever we go she wants to pick flowers that she recognizes and take them home. I guess naming things really is taking over the world – even if it happens in a very small scale of a two year old girl. Here she is picking up meadow buttercups (or tall/giant buttercups if know them by that name). It’s a bit poisonous flower and one needs to take care that it’s not eaten or that is doesn’t cause skin allergy when touched, but we haven’t noticed anything like that so far. [...]"
So, a question about the EVF: if you are using a rangefinder type of lens, and you stop down to say f8 to see depth of field, what is in focus and what is not, and so on, does the EVF brighten up to give a normal brightness view?
With a DSLR, when you stop down to see DOF, the viewfinder gets darker. But when you take the picture, the aperture is wide open and stops down during exposure. With a Leica M type lens, the aperture always remains at the aperture you set it at, even during exposure. Just wondering if the EVF compensates for the aperture setting by brightening up the appropriate number of F-stops.
^^^ Yes, it does brighten up the view to compensate the light "loss". In addition, if you turn the focus peaking feature on, and you see the areas that are in focus at wide open aperture where you first focus, the focus peaking "effect" will get more wide spread as you increase the depth-of-filed with smaller aperture settings. Of course, the smaller the aperture you select, the more pronounced the "effect" of the focus peaking.
Season of Summer Light Week 25, Saturday - Mid summer night
"Today we celebrate the mid-summer in Finland and the day from sunrise to sunset is in its longest. In southern Finland where we live it means 19 hours and 35 mins (sun rises 03.24 and sets down at 23.00). In northern Finland in doesn’t set at all. The mid-summer celebration is very anticipated and during the couple of days Finnish people go to cottages, drink too much alcohol, get sexually active and light up midsummer fires. I’m very aware how dangerous this combination sounds, but in all fairness, it’s a great way to celebrate the summer and nature’s vitality [...]"

A hodgepodge of A6000 photos. All made with the 16-70. Many made while messing around with the whispy water app - some handheld, I was looking for a painterly/watercolor/multi-ex effect for fun. This camera/lens combo is so much fun... This is my first mirrorless, interchangeable lens cam and man I can see where traditional DSLR days may be numbered, at least for the great majority of my shooting needs/desires. I currently shoot with both Nikon and Canon fullframe cams so didn't know what to expect from the A6000. I was just curious. But boy, I'm pretty darn happy. AFAIC, the A6000 is a tremendous value. And the small size + great IQ make it a great travel/hiking cam.

How do you get this kind of effect? Is it through the whispy water app?
I think it looks really cool.
Hi, the "painterly/multi-ex" effect? Yep, just use the whispy water app handheld or I guess even on a tripod if there are randomly moving elements in the scene. The posted painterly/multi-ex effect images were handheld.

Enjoy!
Thanks! That is really interesting. Can't wait to try
Season of Summer Light Week 26, Wednesday - Summer light
"I'm pretty happy with how this picture turned out. Original frame was, following my bad habits, a vertical full body portrait of Aura sitting on a birch tree. She loves to climb into trees and whenever it's possible (and safe) I'll lift her into tree as I enjoy her happiness. I'm glad I found a way to crop it into horizontal portrait which gives it, in my view, a better connection. However, the thing I like most in this picture is that I succeeded to include some that summer light into it which is also stated in the name of this season. I waited a quite some time for an opportunity to do something like this and I'm happy that it finally came when we were visiting a local park. [...]"
