In anticipation of my pre-ordered a7R, I ordered a metabones smart adapter III for my Canon glass. I previously had an earlier version of the adapter so I was interested in the AF and MF capabilities of the new adapter on my NEX-5N which had been collecting dust. This adapter is pretty awesome! AF is slower . . . I'm OK with that. The 40mm pancake makes a nice small package on the 5N. No award winning shots here but just some quick examples. I can't wait to try this out on the new camera.
Bob - lookin forward to hearing what your thoughts are on the a7r.I have started saving for mine as well.
specularist - Great focus on the last shot.Nice and sharp as well.

I'm very excited to get this camera. I'm testing lenses on my old 5N in anticipation. Here's a few with the MC Rokkor 58/1.2 in poor morning light. All W/O.

nikonsafari - welcome to the nex forum.I like the daisy shot as well as the deer.I have seen good results from the Sony 50 and your shot shows a good rendering.

Thanks! Can you tell more about the Vivitar 13mm - is it the aspherical Minolta/Sony lens? Looks good!
Alan
Alan it is a nice lens.It is the same as the Samyang/Rokinon, etc.It is a DSLR lens so it is a bit large on the nex but it does not bother me.It is very sharp in the center WO and sharpens up very nicely on the edges stopped down.It makes for a nice 19/20mm equivalent on a crop body.It is my go to lens for interior home shots.Very good color rendering as well.Hope this helps

Thanks Jim. Interesting discussion I stumbled upon here:
- that implies the Vivitar is not identical to the Samyang/Rokinon version: "I agree that the design of this lens and the samyang are similar and probably share a very very similar optical desing, however, the vivitar still has a different number of elements, and different lens coatings and a wider field of view than the others. I don't know if that is purely the result of a typo in the marketing department or if it truly has some slight adjustments to the optical design."
Great watch shot!
More FD 50/1. + LT sailing snaps, while I wasn't hanging on to an almost vertical wind-powered boat! Anyone else impressed with the edge sharpness of the 50/1.4 on the LT? I expected worse, and was prepared to trade it off against central sharpness and the FF "look", but I've been pleasantly surprised by this and my other FDs so far:
I finally managed to see one of the pontoons for the new SR520 floating bridge (over Lake Washington) going through the Ballard Locks.
These pontoons are segments of the bridge itself, giant floating concrete blocks. They were built in Aberdeen on the Washington coast, and sized to be as big as possible yet still be able to go through the locks so they can reach Lake Washington.
As I got close to the locks I heard a large ship engine spooling up, sounded like a tug with a large load. But it wasn't until I got around the corner and saw this that I knew what it was:
Here you can see how little clearance there is between the pontoon and the locks:
Some abstracts
Here it is departing the locks, heading East. It's essentially a giant box shape, drafting about 15 feet at this point, so it takes a lot of work from the tug to just push it through the water.
