If you received positive feedback here you earned it(unlike Flickr where bury pics of lens caps get praise & useless awards) nor do you get snarky know-it-all remarks(like DPR).
And I agree, it's a great shot, full of emotion and great eye contact, well done.
I really don't need another 35mm lens, but I decided that I wanted an autofocus lens for my NEXs to make it easier to take photos of the little one. I picked up a Sony 35/1.8 OSS yesterday. Here's a couple with the new lens.
I love my NEX-5N, it goes with me wherever I go. This was just a quick hand held snapshot on my way from a dinner the other night (to see if I could capture Orion, just over the bridge), taken with the 18-55 kit lens which I must say has quite helpful image stabilization. The 18-55 hasn't seen much use in my hands but perhaps I need to re-evaluate it - it is quite a lot sharper than the 16mm f/2.8 and on the NEX it makes a really good travel companion.
Thanks sebboh. I like your second photo best. It's interesting how one small detail in an image can change and affect it so much. In this case the gloves, lending context and a story to it. Nice.

+1. Though, without the glove, it would have been nicely mysterious (could have been taken any time in the past 80 years or so practically).
