Nice shots of the Arboretum. I particularly like the statue shot. I'm one of their regular shooters.
Thanks very much, zombil. My first attempt at shooting the Chihuly exhibition was pretty poor - in the harsh light of the middle of the day, with millions of people around. The second time, in the evening, I was able to get better results.

sebboh - Birding with the NEX!! Wow.You still getting hummers this time of year?

Here is one with NEX 7 / Summaron 35 @5.6
winter here is pretty much the same as summer but sunnier, 10 degrees colder, and with less daylight. we just got a bunch of rain so all the flowers are blooming too. the forest around my apartment is infested with hummers year round, there's never enough light for me to use appropriate shutter speed to freeze their motion and get the whole bird in focus though.
great shot by the way, do you have any thoughts on the summaron versus the contax for those types of shots?
Sebboh, those are some great bird shots. You're lucky to have such beutiful subjects all year long. Flowers? I guess the first chance to see flowers bloom here in Narnia is in 5 months or so...
Sebboh - The Leica 35 Summaron lives up to its reputation. It is very sharp WO, great color and what i was really surprised by is the wonderful bokeh that it is capable of.Also i am surprised at the amount of 3D that it generates at times as well.I always really liked the lens but with the diox adapter that gives you a much closer MFD it is a much more versatile lens.As you mentioned this particular adapter does make it impossible to focus with the adapter on a tripod.Although you can get real close and then use the adjustment left in the lens.As for comparing to Zeiss i had the 35/2 ZE for a while with my 5D.Great lens, although much bigger than the Summaron.

thanks, i have to say i really kinda miss winter. it provided some pretty cool photographic opportunities and i liked having the variety and some kind of external cue that time was actually passing. maybe i can make it into the mountains for a day or two this winter...
