Thank you, Derek, Philber, Bill (hope I did not miss anyone, if so apologies!).
Twelvish, I really like the set as well. Esp. the comp on the last photo.
Jae - where in Colorado? Cool arch!
And Jim - love the Biotar look. It's so artsy. It's a really different way of seeing things.
Interesting light this evening, hazy clouds and variable clouds... Can't believe I'm over 10K clicks on my NEX 5N!
5N+50 1.8, sorry to blind you, the chamisa is blooming a sea of sneezy bright yellow right now, and this wash is something else to look at, way out in the dry wastelands. 'San Juan Arroyo Chamisa'

thanks, really like your view from the anthill shot as well.
Thanks. I feel like I'm fighting the amount of contrast the ZA produces, a bit. I had contrast in LR set to -10 or something for that shot... And it still looks bite-y to me.
It is much more soothing to see the tree in the fog!

that's always been my problem with zeiss (and to some extent leica) lenses. i'm always jacking up the fill light, reducing the contrast, and/or desaturating the image in post. perhaps it's just that cameras and raw converters are compensating for the typically lower contrast kit lenses, maybe i'm just too allergic to blacks and harshness in my photos.
@twelvish..great series! I like the last very much.
Jim-I agree with Michelle, the Biotar is very artsy! I like the composition of the pocket knife.
@Michelle.. Your last shot is very vibrant. I like!
@Sebboh...^^^^ incredibly dreamy! Wow!

A few from today with the Nex7 and both Nikon 35 1.4ais, and 105 1.8ais. Starting to learn the 7 a little at a time...I really dig the .jpg files!! Just starting to shoot raw. I have always converted my 1D4 files to .dng in LR4, and I'm curious if I should leave it the same with the Sony, or keep it in its original raw form? Input?

Michelle, you're making a really strong case for the Sony 24! I'm being very tempted (not that the pics with the 50 are not nice, mind, but I've got far too many 50s!). Thanks for sharing!

Glad to know I'm not the only one... I do think the ZA tends toward an ultrasharp harsh look in contrasty conditions. There is nothing soft at all about the chamisa image, either... It might work better as a dusk shot, but I can't get out there then - gotta milk goats, ya know.
I managed to pry the OM 21 out of Bob I.'s hands and it should be here later this week. I'm looking forward to playing with it alongside the 24ZA.
That bit of harshness is actually one of the things I love about the ZA24, it can be biting and gentle at the same time with its biting contrast and sonnar bokeh.

So, you want to sell your house? :P great shot! Amazing view
thanks everyone!
i wish it were mine to sell (or not). we can barely afford a small two bedroom apartment in SF.
it's always foggy like that in the morning here, but yesterday the fog wasn't too thick so you could see the blue sky peaking through creating the lovely gentle light.
living in an enchanted forest has it's upsides and downsides – it's very beautiful, there are lots of places to hike, and looks super spooky at night, but it is always wet, is 10 degrees colder than the rest of the city, and there is nothing nearby to walk to (like a market, coffeeshop, or restaurants).
