Those are great, Anders. Looks like a lot of fun. How long have they been doing that in Stockholm?

Not sure, but I Think they did it a few years now. I've never been there before

Unfortunately I missed quite a lot of shots, since the AF was not fast enough and the EVF kept going White whenever the camera fell asleep.

In the meanwhile, I was in London withe the now-habitual Elmar 24...

Thanks. I like the second shot of the Eye and County Hall. Were you in London for the Olympics?

I've seen that in the financial district on Manhattan before, but I don't think it was special event. I think they just call it Monday.

I've heard the Sigmas is a little slow, but is that also true of the Sony 50?

It was not as much slow AF as the EVF going white when waking up. Also, since I had MF Assist activated I could not touch the lens without the EVF zooming in (which is sometimes good). The NEX really needs memory presets for different situations ...

Also, I haven't found a way to zoom for critical focus, without disabling MF Assist (which leads to auto zoom when I touch the focus ring).

Cool shots aferiksson. Had no idea that was going on yesterday, but I did hear from a couple of friends who managed to just stumble upon it. Myself, I spent most of the day at Stockholms finest cemetery. Stayed for hours and have lots of shots but only managed two quick edits so far. I think both are from the Nikkor 28/2.8 AI-s.

I picked up the evf for my 5n, and its awesome. however, i have a question. If I activate DMF for focusing, with an autofocus lens, upon rotating the focus ring it zooms in to the area of focus for more precise focusing. is there a way of doing this with a manual focus lens also? if I am looking via lcd i can touch the lcd and it will zoom in to the point I touched. but how about using the evf? thanks.

figured it out. press the button bellow the wheel. zooms in 4.5x and 9 x.

A few recent ones from a trip to the Austrian mountains.

Hello everyone... Long time(really, really long time) since I have posted anything on the alt forum. Having 2 kids really takes its toll on taking and posting pics. Although, I still take pics if my boys, I'm sure everyone doesn't want to see the same thing over and over again!!!!
I still have my 1D4, and well considering grabbing a Nex-7. The pics I've seen from it are mind boggling!! It even looks like Jim Schemel jumped to an Nex system!! And I love looking at his photos!
I have some alt lenses already that I shoot on my 1D4(Nikon 1.4/35ais, 2/24 ais, 1.2/50 ais, and a 1.8/105 ais, and a CY 3.4/35-70),so would it compel me to purchase an Nex-7? I would need a wider angle, of course, but would like some input into the Sony system.
Thanks for everyone's time in advance.
Feel free to pm or email responses, too.
Gregg

Hi Gregg! There's a NEX discussion thread that would probably be better to ask your questions on... NEX 5N is a lot of fun with the touchscreen, though lower res than 7, and there are allegedly some new bodies coming out in the next few weeks - might be worth waiting a bit to see what comes out. You can always post your kid pics. IMO it's kind of fun to watch the forum kids growing up.

Ok, here's a pic from today, foodie themed. Green chili goat cheese with orange marmalade. YUMMMMM. 5N + ZA24/1.8. I am chained to the stove today making a batch of feta cheese, so trying to be a little bit creative w/ photography in the process.

Actually, it's fantastic as a portrait lens. It's razor sharp wide open, and has the perfect DoF for portraits, and the smoothest bokeh. Also, you can keep a good distance to the subject, and if you like, get in real close for a tight head shot. I imagine it would be even better on a FF sensor.

When I got the lens, I had no idea it would be so much fun, I mean 300mm (450mm on NEX), big and heavy, I thought I'd be using it for a couple of moon shots and then sell it. Now I take it with me whenever I know I'll be shooting people, especially if I know I won't be able to get close. I sold my Contax Zeiss 100-300, because this lens is so much better (although the Contax is superb at 100mm, but I have other great lenses at that focal length).
