My nex 5N with the Kit lens is arriving on Monday. I have a 5d3, with assortment of L primes and zooms, and an LX-5. the reason behind the 5N for me is a more portable camera with good image quality, and a little more control over dof.
I looked over several pages of this thread, and have not seen much about canon FD lenses. are they not favored, or is there a problem? the 50 1.4 goes under 100 on ebay. the problem with the EF adapter is aperture control. is it generally felt that the canon fd lenses are too big or optically not as good?
is there a place or thread to look up for affordable small primes with good image quality? I would like to stick to f2 or faster if possible. there are a few chinese lenses super cheap on ebay, not sure if its worth it. any help, or pointing in the right directions would be very appreciated.
also I assume focus peaking is available regardless of lens and adapter I use? is this correct? if this is too complex of a question, I can start a separate thread.

The Conurus adapter gives you aperture control on EF lenses, but EF lenses are very large.
Speaking from experience, The FD lenses are a bit big on the 5n. The Olympus OM lenses are a better fit, and the 24/2, 28/2, 35/2, and 50/1.4 are all quite good. You might also try the Konica 40/1.8.
@ kevindar:
The FD lenses will work fine, I have a nice set of SSC's and others, all good lenses.
The thing is, this forum tends to have a fetish towards Leica and Zeiss.
Some FD glass seems to have more CA/PF than other lenses in very high contrast shots, but it's easy to fix in the current version of LR.

thanks a lot.
Having 20K worth of Canon glass, I simply cannot afford zeiss and leica for my Nex. Much of my photography is done at home (family) and some local landscapes, and some places within driving distance. as good as the micro 4/3 has nex has become, cant beat the autofocus and dof control of 5d3, and convenience of fast autofocusing 2.8 zooms. using those lenses on nex makes no sense, since they are massive, and it defeats the purpose. However, I have been shooting a lot with my 5d3 and sigma 50 1.4, walking around with it. but it is still too big. the ideal of nex with a couple of fast primes that fit in my coat pocket, or cargo pants or a very small bag/wife's handbag really appeals to me, for occasional use, without going overboard. the images here are amazing though.
I picked the nex 5n over OMD b/c of price of body, as well as a little bit better control over dof the difference being close to 1 stop.
