Love #1 Reeve. You make a lens I didn't like much really look great.
thanks, haven't gotten much out of it myself, thats probably the best one.
I am thinking about buying a 85/1.2 L FD but those are still expensive.
Phillip, what is the apx size and cost of the 85 1/2 FD and of course you have to use the larger FD to Nex adaptor? What price r you seeing? thanks
On a Nex when the "processing" word appears on the rear LCD after taking the picture, is there any need to be concerned about keeping the camera steady
I'm about to take a trip to several Baltic countries and am struggling with my decision regarding which ultra wide to take along with the Nex 7 for interiors.
Here's my options that I own:
1) The Sony Zeiss 24 f1.8 (and make panos if necessary, since it isn't all that wide). It is going on the trip for sure, anyway.
2) Sony ZA 16-50 (for the ultra wide end) -- I have the LA-EA2 adapter. It would be heavy and bulky... 2.8, though, and a pretty good lens, actually. Since it is AF, it would be easier for me to focus when shooting upwards with my bad back.
3) Rokinon (Samyang) 14. -- Also heavy and bulky, no AF
4) CV 15 (used in the photo below) -- sure like the size, magenta corners, sometimes hard for me to decide when it is in focus.
I could also buy the Zeiss ZM 18. How are the corners on the Nex? Is it as good a lens as the incredible ZF 21?

You don't have to worry about the image falling out of your memory card.
I guess processing simply means that the camera is writing the raw (or jpeg) file to the card _after_ you took the shot.

according to mir.com :" Length x max. diameter: 71mm x 80.8mm Weight: 680g"
They sell for a little bit less than 500€.
If you can get a good copy for less than €500, go for it. I can't imagine they will go down in price, on the contrary, as more people start using mirrorless, they will continue to rise in price. I bet you can do some real magic with the 85L Phillip. I don't use mine enough, I really should take it with me more often.

Below is an image shot with the Nex 7 and CV 15.

My working kit with the NEX-7 is the ZA E 24/1.8, the DT 16-50 SSM and the 85/2.8 SAM. In your position I'd take the 16-50 with the 24 and only carry the 16-50 when needed. It's actually not that bad for size & weight, it just feels weird on the small 7 body. Handles pretty good once you get used to it, the optics are excellent and the AF is fast & accurate. Only caveat I have is it's a little lacking in focus throw for MF, but I have an LA-EA1, not the 2, so I'm stuck with MF.

Thats my problem, do i want to invest 500€ in a great lens which will probably not see that much use? I have a Samyang 85/1.4 and rarely use it.
On the other hand i'm sure that we will see a fullframe mirrorless in the foreseeable future and i like 50mm lenses on crop, so it might be a good investment for the future.
I will monitor the market, if i'm lucky i might get one with some scrachtes on the front element for a good price.

Well there is a 16-50 e-mount coming out this year or next, maybe wait for that and pick up something else instead.
If I were you, I'd pick up the Sigma 19 and 30 instead for now.
He was asking for a near-future trip, and including mostly lenses he owned.
The upcoming E 16-50 interests me personally. But it'll need to match my DT 16-50 in performance for me to consider buying. I can live with a compact prime + large zoom kit, small zooms would be nice but they need to deliver the goods.
