Just be aware that doing that violates Flickr's terms, a link needs to be provided, click the "share" tab above the picture on the picture's comments page, that will give you options on sizing and formats(BBCode for FM)

Oh, oops, thanks for the tip! I hadn't realized this. I'm not surprised now that you mention it.

Thanks for the compliments!

Sebboh, I like your interior HDR shot (I am assuming that it is HDR), although I am not a big fan of HDR's, yours seems quite well done!

Jim, that Fd 28mm is a nice lens, I had one years ago that I used with an AE1 - hows that for dating myself! Nice tones in the second image!

Ulrikft2 - did you cyan that image at all? I ask because Sony's seem to err on the magenta side, and there doesn't seem to be any of that in your image?

Andrew

To me, that's a great example of what makes the NEX 5 and 7's sensors so impressive- the amount of detail you can pull out of the shadows. It doesn't seem to leave much headroom in the highlights, though, certainly not a comparable amount. But if you expose for the highlights, you can make HDR obsolete. I wonder if the same is true for the D800.

On an unrelated note, love that sunset shot, D.

thanks!

the interior shot is actually with the nex-3 not my nex-7. the original nex had plenty of shadow lifting ability as well.

I didn't include the 3 because I've never shot with it, but that's good to know.

Great images as always, Phillip! Did you capture them in the evening? The last three look a bit dark to me (at least on my screen).

Here's one with NEX 5n + (borrowed) Leica 24 3.8:

you are right, when i developed them they were bright enough but i was basically sitting in a black room, no lightsources but my monitor.
Yes i captured pictures 2-4 shortly after sunset with a cloudy sky.

fantastic shots in the last post phillip, i love all of them.

lately i worry that the nex's shadow latitude is leading to me pulling up the shadows too much, and that i should really let more images have large black portions. here is a shot at sunset shot with the shadows pulled up a ton:
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7276/7422395136_d56edfe458_b.jpg
and the same image without the shadow recovery:
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8147/7422395484_3ed261535d_b.jpg
any opinions, do folks like it better with as a silhouette or with brightened shadows? would somewhere in the middle work better for these types of photos?

that shot was with the c/y 35/1.4 incidently, probably at f/2.8.
