I have trouble with a contax 45mm zeiss and metabones adapter on nex7... I cannot manage to get sharp focus at infinity. It's ok-ish for portraits and close range. Frustrating for what I expected to be a great landscape lens! Disassembled/ reassembled the adapter a few times, I believe I am following instructions per the letter...
Operator error ? bad lens ? (bought as ex+ through Keh) bad adaptor ?
I am now hesitating between trying a kipon adaptor (another 130 bucks, brings the whole experiment's price not so far from a e mount 24mm sonnar, arrr) or selling the whole thing... Any of you luminaries went through similar pains with the g lenses ?
On the other hand, my rokkor 58 1.2 was worth every penny. Incredible lens... Do it all from creamy bokeh to amazing sharpness.

Strange, I've only ever had my Contax G lenses focus well past infinity with all 3 adapter brands that I've tried. Not sure what's going on, there.
i believe nearly all the contax g adapters can focus past infinity. i seem to remember that the lenses can actually focus past infinity on contax g cameras as well (common thing with autofocus lenses).

Some shots with my Hexanon 50 1.7. Such a sharp lens when stopped down. I'm currently in the process of collecting a set of Contax G lens - got the 28, 90 on the way and on the lookout for a good 45. I've only had my Nex-5n for a few weeks and I'm still learning but I feel I'm slowly getting the hang of it. This thread was and all the great images was a big inspiration for me picking up a Nex and manual glass - so thanks!
Well with those images you're going to inspire more folks coming over here. Excellent images!
hope this is not too off topic? using LR 3, when looking at metadata for Nex, it always say f1.0 ( I do not own a lens that is an f 1.0 ) My Nikon's aperture changes as I change it. Could you give me any idea of what may be wrong in the case of the Nex? thank you joanlvh
There's nothing wrong -- there just isn't any electronic communication between a Nikon lens and a Sony camera. Only e-mount lenses will report aperture (and other data).
