No sharpening other than general overall sharpening. Just got lucky with this wiggly girl when she FINALLY sat down. Shot this at 2.8 I believe... too chicken to go lower with manual focus and mobile children.
My 28 preference comes after shooting mucho 35 on nex--and I will keep 2 35s myself. But my question, with respect, is how much 28 have you shot on the nex?

Heh. That's a question keeping my economy at the edge for the moment. I have a CV35/1.2, the FA31/1.8, a 35Lux ASPH (pre.FLE as the current FLE version has a scary bokeh) at home and then, finally?, a ZM Biogon 35/2 on order. I hope to be able to sell at least two of them in a not too distant future...
If you know of a super well performing 35mm not slower than f/2 please let me know. When I am at it I can as well try another one at the same time. I do however think I got the top contenders gathered now.
(I have ruled out the Zeiss C/Y Distagon 35/1.4, the Nikon offers, the Sony/Minolta 35/1.4, the CV 35/1.4 and 35/1.7, the SMC-P 35/2 and a couple more, all for more or less rational reasons.) No need for an apology Jacob... ...Show more →
I have a Canon FD 35mm f2 SSC concave. I have not used it yet, but by any chanse, have you tried it, and how does it compare?

Where are all the Norwegian authors?
Well, I have to admit that I'm not very good at reading local literature :P hard to take anything written in norwegian seriously.. cultural brainwash by hollywood or something..
Just got my NEX 5 and 16mm lens. So far I am loving the combination. I don't really understand where all the complaints came from for that lens, I like it a lot. I will contribute some shots soon!

Good reading list.

not sure exactly what you mean? the lenses won't mount on the adapter or don't get infinity? if they won't mount on the adapter, send it back for a refund.
i don't have any calipers handy so i can't give you a measurement with any kind of accuracy. i did have to shim my adapter to get a proper infinity stop.
a bit late with my answer - it just does not mount on the adapter. The seller has already refunded me, I just though I would try make it work. No worries, I will post in rokkor thread later!

Here is an old APS-C image, taken with a 35mm lens:

Nice shot--as wide as gets for 35 on the nex. You are making my point there.
Hi uhoh7,
Thank you. I don't think I made your point there. Your point seem to be that the diagonal of the APS-C sensor makes a 28mm worthy of the title "normal", and you also let us know the reasons you prefer 28 over 35.
My point is that I don't care about the length of the diagonal but instead have found a focal length I feel comfortable working with. Just as I preferred the 50 (over 40) with my FF cameras I prefer the 35 on APS-C.
What more points can be done?
Obviously, I'm not telling you or anyone to sell all your 35s, but 2 should be plenty. If you have more and no 28.....
What is your 28 anyway?
It's not *that* obvious.
My 28? I don't have any 28. When on Pentax I had a period where I mainly used a 28mm lens for my normal, thinking there must be something in it. That was an SMC-P A28/2.0 and here is one from the on-line archive
ŠJonas B, 2006, Pentax *ist DS, A28/2
That image is obviously cropped. I had to do that all the time as I never learned to coop with 28. It was too wide for my way of seeing the world. When selling it and returning to the 35 it felt like coming back home. Perhaps the only point I'm making now is showing off as rigid.
My 28 preference comes after shooting mucho 35 on nex--and I will keep 2 35s myself. But my question, with respect, is how much 28 have you shot on the nex?
None, see above. I have a 16, a 35 and a 60 in my bag. That is a setup working for me.
Do you think we can end this here? Everything should be cleared up by now, no?

Sounds like you've got them all covered! Well... you did leave out the CV 40/1.4, but it's not a 35 technically and I think it's similar in some ways to the 35/1.4 anyway. I have this lens and have mixed feelings about it
(...)
The CV40/1.4 is, as you say, not a 35. It's a funny thing with focal lengths and personal preferences, as shown in this thread lately...
I was never happy with my Elmarit-R 60/2.8 on my 5D cameras. It was too long. Now when on APS-C I had to re-buy it as it has became a totally different experience.

Hi, no, I haven't tried that lens, I've only heard about it and good things to that. Hopefully it will perform to your satisfaction and if it does please let us know about your impressions!
