Excellent shots, sebboh! I really liked them, what's the MFD of that lens and how big was the turtle? imho, the turtle shots is the best!
I must play more with my 28 ZF
thanks!
mfd is a little under a foot. i think the turtle had about a 4" shell.
philber steered me straight...well it was my eyes looking at his great shot. I overpaid about 100, but it seems to shoot flawlessly.
18 is a wonderfull fl, 27 efl. The subdued distortion is good, and it seems to handle correction well. As you guys know, I have been a defender of the sony 16, but it cannot approach the zeiss, which I think is sharper than my 50 cron v5.
Obvioulsy the one issue is speed, so I will likely keep the sony for indoors---but I will try the zeiss at high iso and see what happens
The build is remarkable and even the hood is sharp and strong.
Jacob -Thanks very much. I loved the wiper blade. That is the kind of thing I need to explore more.
Sebboh - Completely fantastic.
Uhoh - I really love the first church shot. It is gorgeous. I can't find the ZM 18 for sale in the US. The big places, as well as my local dealer, are all out of stock. I guess that is ok, because I don't have any money to buy it with. But I am considering selling my beloved ZF 21 to fund the ZM 18.

That's so nice of you to say that, as I was heming and hawing about that shot wih it's angles and comp---but it kept drawing my eye back so I threw it up
The zms come and go here and at dpi for around 900-1000 every few weeks. One just sold at DPI today for 975 with a scratched up hood but oherwise good. Mine is like new (that won't last long) and was 1110 on ebay 10 days ago.
Just received my Nex-5n. I only had a about 30 minutes to get out and shoot before it got dark, so I grabbed a few shots with an Olympus OM 28/2. There wasn't a whole lot of interest to shoot, but there was some interesting light hitting these trees. Shot wide open (f2).

i really like the zeiss shot of the church as well. i like the rendering of color and sky better in the leica shot, but angle and composition wise i like the zeiss shot better.

sebboh, i'd love to watch as u pp'd those---just fantasic dynamic range with no taste of HDR
the bokeh is over the top wirery, but you have it looking great there. You really are a master of making your tools quirks sing.
thanks! i'm afraid you'd be disappointed to watch my post processing. i have curves settings saved for my favorite lenses and just apply them on import (it's actually the same one for all my rokkors). then i just set white balance, exposure, black point, and add vignetting. if the scene is particularly high contrast or flat i may tweak the curves a bit more, but that is pretty much it.

Charlie, yes it's the CV 90/3.5 thread mount, via Leitz LTM > M > Voigtlander M > NEX. I don't believe there is an M-mount version of this one.
Wonderful lens. At 5.6 it's sharp to the corners. With the hood attached it looks a little silly on the NEX, but it's super lightweight and therefore not too difficult to handle. Here's one more from the 90, I think at f4 or f5.6... in any case my focus was off a little, but I like the the colors of our extended summer here in California
Charlie, great start with your ZM 18! BTW, try cropping, even massively, it will give you more opportunities...
I also shoot mine pretty much without focusing, at f:5.6 and infinity less a fraction...

There's a tip---I'll have to try that.
Still coming to terms with the hawks adapter's accurate stop (i think) at infinity . That alone is worth a pretty penny. It may be my only adapter which does that.
I have a thread going at mflenses about 28s in general and what peole like, etc I was thinking about how the EFL is so crazy different between 135 and our aps-c and it dawned on me: The zm18 is our 28 (27 really)
Imagine the 28 cron shooting with the ZM's FOV at f/2, and the 18 would be our killer 12!
We just need to slap them till they spit out a nice little micro-lensed FF nex mount (i think somebody proved it would fit in there). Who cares if there are no native FF e mounts---in fact they could include a high quality M adapter with CF like hawks. If rioch can, why not sony for crying out loud!
Yeah, I think most of us in the forum would buy such a 135 mirrorless from Sony, but not having compatibility with e-mount lenses would probably make it a niche product, and economy of scale would make it tough to produce for Sony, I'd imagine. Plus, Sony would probably run into contractual issues with Leica, since cameras like the X1 use Sony parts. Who knows?
