Congrats on your new lens, wfrank! I just made up my mind to go on a two-week trip to the Far East and leave my 5D II at home. I will bring 4 lenses, including G 28 and G 90. If this doesn't work out, I will feel like a total idiot, but pictures posted on the "NEX with G" thread have convinced that my hopes are well founded.

Oh, that's very convincing coming from you - I've seen lots of amazing stuff you've done while I was just lurking around here at FM - not taking part really.

But what's that thread, never seen that (!?)

Good luck on your venture philber and I am a bit dreaded that you may come home with results convincing me of making my for the moment dust collecting 5D2 feel further obsolete :-)

Finally got the VF for my NEX 5N. Absolutely amazing - I ordered it off of ebay from Hong Kong on Tues and it arrived at my house on Saturday!!!

The VF is simply amazing, IMO. I actually prefer it to most optical VF's that I've used. And the focus peaking means I don't have to change the AF point as I do on my dSLR when I want to focus on a different area. For static subjects I'm not getting a higher in focus rate than I was with AF on my dSLR, which amazes me.

Is this what you meant to say, you're finding that your DSLR autofocus is just as accurate as MF with the NEX EVF?

Frezeiss, you make me miss my ZM 35C. I forgot exactly how good it was (in the right hands, of course!). Very nice shots!

No, sorry. My NEX MF accuracy is about as good or better than the AF accuracy with my dSLR.

Carstenw, thanks! How come you didn't jump on the 5N band wagon as post your pictures here also?

Philipe, thank you for the nice words.. You know, I nearly sold the C-biogon because I insisted its not fast enough for me. Good thing I snapped out of it and cancel the deal just in time, still never understood what really happened

I assume its the G 28 that is preventing you from getting another copy?

Haha, what is stopping me (don't laugh) is the fact that it is not fast enough...:-)

Thanks, here's another with the 50 1.4 SSC on the 5N....

And, as a Canon shooter, this is the first Nikon glass I've ever used....a beat up old 55 f/3.5 macro, @ f/3.5....(this is one thing I'm loving about the NEX is how easy it is to use so many different brands of lenses; I've got a Zeiss Jena Sonnar 135 f/3.5 on its way to me and I can't wait to give it a go on the NEX).....

In case some of you haven't seen it, Sean Reid wrote what I think is an interesting addendum to MR's review of the 5N on focusing with an EVF and dealing with focus shift here:

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/sony_nex_5n_field_review.shtml#mirrorless

I think Sean's comments are interesting. Personally, I've found F 5.6 to be kind of a sweet spot on APS-C sensors and with my NEX 5 EVF, focus peaking and magnified view, I haven't felt that I needed to open up the lens to get accurate focus as he suggests.

OTOH, 35 mm is currently my widest range finder lens and it's possible if I was shooting with a wider lens at F8 that I might find some advantage of opening up the lens to F4 as he suggests.
