Perfect lighting, a contrasty background and a square crop that should make sure that the viewer's attention is not distracted sideways, until the frame does this.
Thanks Yakim. It's actually cropped to an 8 x10 ratio.....but i will think about your comment about the frame...I tend to think it contains the image....
Merry Christmas. I've been watching your flower photography evolve over the past several months and I am envious of the skills you've developed. Beautiful work.
With regard to this entry, my personal preference would be for your initial entry of the Iris. It is such a beautiful flower and much more complex in its form than the daisy. Your photograph and processing captures that beauty and complexity with great clarity. If as you said "I hope to be a Fine Art Photographer when I grow up!", I think the Iris photograph gets you much closer to that goal.

Thanks Tom! It's a tough choice for me, and even more so because I become emotionally invested in my images....who knows, there's still a few days to decide! I appreciate your input and opinion on the flowers!
I look forward to this weeks posts. I have a feeling many more excellent images will find their way in.....
Both shots are very nice, Greg. Indeed, your flower photography has evolved a lot in the past few months. My personal preference is the iris you replaced with the daisy. I think it is a much more interesting flower and i'm not convinced of the crop on the daisy. BUT - that's how I look at it. It shouldn't influence you unless you think I am right.
As to the framing - a long time ago, when I used to enter the WA every week the rules clearly stated that no framing was allowed and any photo with a frame would be disqualified. I just checked and I see that Fred has abandoned that rule. So now, I suppose it is a matter of personal preference whether or not you frame them.
I hope your Christmas was great and I send all my best wishes for 2011!
Thanks Endre. I appreciate the kind words about my photography, especially since you've been so influential in my progress and provide much inspiration for me, and many others I believe, to strive for perfection. I look forward to your entry, should you decide to participate with one of your masterpieces!
As for my entry....decisions....decisions.....
All the best to you! I have a feeling 2011 is going to be a good year!
