p.1 #1 · 1D's mixup

Felt like such a newbie, that or I'm starting to get really old. Last two photoshoots, I thought I was using my 1DsII and 1DIII combo, turns out I just realized I was using a 1DII and 1DIII.

This did make me think about a few things. 1) the 1DII still holds it's own. 2) How on earth did I mistaken a 1.3x for a FF? That's beyond me. I really should put a big fact sticker on my cameras. And today, shooting in the rain, I wanted to bring my 1DII, and I took my 1Ds II by accident!

I have a piece of gaffers tape on the side of my 1D & 1D2, it helps me differentiate from the Ds's in a hurried situation.

I can tell immediately when I look through the viewfinder.

1DIII, 1DII, and 1Ds II....
Sounds like a great problem to have!

Wow, can't tell all my 1D's apart. Sounds like a rough time alright.

@bruce, that's actually an excellent idea. It was a semi hurried situation, I was running late. And once I got there things started happening and it was pretty hectic. Blue painter's masking tape, for the win.

Been there, done that.

One time I picked up the 70-200/2.8 instead of the 70-200/2.8 IS. 2 weeks on safari without IS.

Another time I brought a 1Ds II instead of a 1Ds III and no Canon NC-E2 charger.

Now I use labels on the prism housing with #1 and #2 on the the 1Ds MK IIs and A, B, C on the 1Ds MK IIIs.

One of my favorite things about the Mark IV is that it has a silver hotshoe. This makes it really easy to tell apart from my Mark IIn, which has a black hotshoe. ;-)

One of the more telling posts I've read in a long time. Yes, the 1D II definitely holds its own compared to the newcomers. And your accident/experience pretty much supports my notion that good DSLRs are more alike than different. I've been using a 1D II alongside a 5D for a few months now and couldn't be happier. The 1D II is still a stellar camera.

Don't replace your 1d2n with a 1d3 then, they're also silver on top.
