1D MARK III USER’S GUIDE
I just purchased this MARK III USER’S GUIDE from Arthur Morris.

Also, do a search on YouTube “1D III settings”.
There are a couple of GREAT videos on there where they walk you through each and every custom setting, and tell you why they did it.
I would suggest to try first the default setting of the camera. It will do fine. Then you can start setting some custom functions to improve the probability and precision of focusing and tracking. The "Autofocus/Drive" CF settings are the ones you should be looking at.
Clearly AI Servo and center focus (w or w/o expansion) are the very first requisites to shoot birds in flight.
