Thanks! I'll check into that. So, just set up for HD video, and use the intervalometer like a cable release? Or is it shooting stills that need to be edited together? Using Zoombrowser?
The intervalometer will allow you to take still images at a specified time interval and then the still images are put together with one of several software options to make the TL video. It is not HD video shot straight from the camera. The Zoombrowser software provided by Canon with your camera will not create the timelapse video from stills like you want.
The intervalometer of course will also act as a normal cable release as well.
You can get one from the LinkDelight page for under $25.
I have the link delight which works just fine for me and seems to be built OK. I have no experience with the Canon, but I suspect that it is better built and would last longer.
UCDEngBoss -- You're right, OEM is sooooo expensive.
I've been very happy with the various cable releases, microphones and batteries from China, so I imagine the intervalometer will be no different.
What do you mean by "software options"? Buying something outside of Windows Movie Maker, PS Elements or the Canon software? That's what I have on hand at the moment.
It is so much easier with a Canon P&S camera plus free CHDK software on its memory card. And you don't really want to walk away from an expensive DSLR when you can use a cheap camera in its place and get better results. You don't want high resolution for a movie, so DSLR is wasted.
