got mine from amazon today. They packed the lens in the very small and very thin paper box. What's wrong with amazon packaging people?
Unfortunately, that's typical. Adorama and B&H are better, but still not up to the standard I'd like to see. Fortunately, all three have great customer service and will quickly replace anything damaged in shipping.

I got my Sigma 85 from Abe's a couple weeks ago, and the Sigma box was just rattling around inside a larger cardboard box with _one_ of those plastic balloon things that had popped. Very discouraging. I sent the Sigma back yesterday with focusing problems.

I got my Sigma 85 from Abe's today too... i'll have to see how the packaging is when I get home... this is my 2nd copy of the lens, so hopefully it's a keeper!

I ordered the day it was available and when my estimated delivery date showed up and passed, they dropped my order... I had to get back in line....

Anyone not really satisfied with their 35mm f1.4G?
I felt mine is less sharp compared to my previous Sigma 50mm. Not sure if this issue is because 35mm f1.4's sharpness is generally less compared to other f1.4 lenses or my copy has focusing issue.
So far, the pictures I've taken haven't impressed me yet. Hmm...
I purchased one and sold it on the board a few hours later. It was great, very sharp, good looking pictures, but it didn't seem to have the wow factor that I was looking for. I think it'd be the same for me if/when Nikon comes out with a new 50mm. No matter how good a 35 or 50 are, they just look "normal" to me.
Maybe the best 35mm lens ever made though! It was sweet.
Doh, quite disappointed to see the lack of rave reviews ;p ...
As prob the most versatile FL, I'm still hanging out for an awesome f1.4 35mm... Currently use the ZF.2 f2 lens, which is amazing, but sometimes I find myself itching for f1.4 for the narrower DoF...
Perhaps the new Zeiss (next year) will be the way to go?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say anything bad about the lens. It's just not for me. If you're looking for a 35mm you have to try this one. It really is good!
