p.1 #1 · Texas Unicorn Mantis (Phyllovates chlorophaea)

First time I think I've seen one of these. I got my flash bracket the other day, so am still experimenting with the light. Any tips/suggestions (as usual) are appreciated! (Using Nikon D90/Sigma 150mm/SB 600 with a LumiQuest softbox/straight arm bracket off to the left side)

Lovely captures.
Re the flash bracket position - I just find it's a matter of getting used to where the light source is and try then to work it into the shooting angle. Does sometimes mean you have to favour bugs looking one particular direction.

Not easy tracking some creatures. Can't comment on the bracket, I don't use one and have the advantage of being able to flip my snoot (it's in the Post Your Setup sticky) for light from L or R - could work for ext flash on cam I suppose.

Thanks guys. Mark, I've been wanting to make a snoot like yours. Not getting the lighting the way I'd like it with the bracket/ballhead setup, so will continue to try "stuff" until something works..
