The D70s was/is a great little camera. Frankly I love the older digitals a lot and while my D70S is long gone my D2H/D2Hs get used almost daily. In the Canon camp my old D60 still gives better color then the new stuff IMO. All these bodies are such bargains on the used market.
I've had an issue with CHA/FOR errors. Spraying contact cleaner into an old CF card, then insert and retrieve several times can get rid of the CHA/FOR for awhile. Ya can change out the D70 card reader for $50 and fix it permanently. Then it's a keeper and great bang-around goto camera.

This is a sunrise in the Okavango Delta (Botswana), and I was just walking out for the first outing in the day's safari when I bumped right into that. Stood there for a few seconds, slack-jawed in amazement, then remembered to lift the camera and snap a picture. Sometimes, there's just no way to improve on Nature.
I wish Nikon would include an electronic shutter mode, similar to the D70, on their newer cameras. This would be a great way to compete with the higher sync speeds of the newer MF cameras.
Only problem i have with the D50/D70/D70s or any camera from that era is the small low-res LCD. When you're used to 3.0" 930k dot LCD's, even the 2.5" 230k dot screens are a let-down. 1.8-2" 130k dot LCD's are positively painful to use.

I agree with you ... once you become accustomed to the newer/larger, brighter, more pleasing to the eye LCD's ... it does make a difference when you go back to the smaller versions ...
I would love to see Nikon bring out a DSLR in the 6-8MP range with the responsiveness, buffer speed, FPS and controls of the D300 (or a better high ISO version of the D2H) ... quite often, I don't need all that data for some of my sports work ... and with the future leaning toward electronic delivery of our news ... there may not be as much need for data as you would have for large prints ....
This was indoor swim. With one SB-800 mounted on the camera, I had enough power to bounce off the ceiling and get these shots. It wasn't a low ceiling either...maybe 25-30 ft or so.
I could certainly be missing something, but I don't think one speedlight shooting Auto FP would have had enough power to bounce the flash.
Then again, as I write, and think about this, perhaps an FX body shooting Auto FP at a high ISO, you might get enough power. Hmmm....something to think about.
