I used to shoot a lot of wildlife but I've switched to almost exclusively landscapes now - slower pace, tripod etc. No moving stuff for which AF would be required.

@singletrak... looking on your gear list... I do not know what are you normally shooting, but for a trip in Italy I would rather consider Zeiss 21/2.8 Distagon or the new Nikon 24/1.4.

Quite happy with the 20mm Nikon AIS as I don't think I will use a super wide that much.
