Passerby who found this wonderful forum through google. Couldn't resist coming here to make an account after reading through this thread and seeing the vast amount of butthurt John380 spewed everywhere. The excuses in this thread were absolutely ridiculous. I doubt John380 would bitch about his rebels strap as much as he has the BR strap if that were to fail on him (also - Implying it failed) It states clearly on the instructions for the BR straps on their website that they recommend wetting it, saying "oh I paid $65 for it it should work out of the box"

Needing an owners manual for a camera strap is also ridiculous. As are profanity laden posts that are personal attacks.

After two drops to the ground from waist height from a properly connected strap (yes, per the manual) I came to the conclusion that this is not a product I would use anymore nor recommend and that it has a defective design.

Hey buddy, seems like you have a vested interest in this strap. I don't see any user error here.

I double strap my black rapid, just for peace of mind. I don't think it really defeats the purpose, which, to me, is the comfort/convenience of carrying and the easy of shooting.

I've only had mine for 4 or 5 months, but I haven't had any issues with the tripod screw. OTOH, I was a bit annoyed by how the metal clamps bang against the body and scratch it up, so I ended up putting masking tape on the bottom of the body. It looks ghetto, but I'm playing the "street cred" angle of having a "ghetto" D3S and 24 1.4 :P

I wouldn't go back to the traditional neck strap. Had a few, including "expensive" ones, and the BR strap is much more comfortable and convenient for me. I might try a different brand of sling strap if there's some reasonable consensus on a "better" design...
