Ah, I didn't see your comment because you typed it inside the quote. When you used Live View, did you focus at the same aperture as you used to take your pictures?
Yep. Tried to focus wide open with the most light, took the picture, then stopped down to F8, took another one and both were OOF. I really think chipping it is the best bet as I have no issues with my other lenses. Just weird that ths one has such a large DOF I figured it would practically be like a P&S like my 21 was but I am not finding that to be the case. I am new to photography so chances are it is my technique.

Thanks for the link. Couldn't get into any of the threads and can't read German but I appreciate it. I did have some luck today messing with it on my NEX 5. Used the MF assist option and it worked extremely well although they were all shots in my apartment... Completely forgot I have the option as well on the 5DII to magnify when focusing in live view. Doh! Sometimes I have a brain fart... I plan taking it for a spin tomorrow outside on both if I get home before sunset. Not used to it getting dark by 5:30pm...

Hah, I was already a bit surprised that you didn't manage to focus with 10x magnification on your 5D2.

I am not quite sure about the settings I used for this particular shot. I am using an AF-confirm chip, which I bought separately. I do rely on the chip's acoustic signal. The lens was not set to infinity since the windows of the house in the background are slightly out of focus. If I want infinity focus I turn back a tiny little bit after reaching infinity to have more DOF in the picture and dial a higher aperture at the same time.
The aperture was probably f/3.5 and I focused on the cars emblem.

May I ask where you got the chip from and if it was easy to install? I have a trip to Garmisch in a few weeks and would like to use it there with all the beautiful scenery

I got a chip from Tago Tech from their E-bay store for $21 (I think). They ship from Singapore, so it takes a few weeks to get it.
I was really leary about installation, especially the gluing part. I used double surface scotch tape for mine, and it worked quite well. I'm talking about the really thin stuff, it's about the same mil thickness as regular scotch tape. Just make sure you clean the surfaces thoroughly to insure a solid bond. I used Eclipse E2 sensor cleaning fluid to clean mine.
I had no problem at all placing mine exactly where it needed to go on the lens flange using the tool that came with the chip. However, the one deviation I did make was to cut a shim for the chip from an old credit card. I could tell by looking at the contacts on several other lenses I have that the Tago chip would not protude as much from the lens flange surface as it should with out shimming. I cut the shim with scissors, stuck it on to the chip, then used a dremel tool to trim the edges flush with the chip.
I put my chip on the Rokinon 85 f/1.4 (Canon mount), I would guess the lens flange on the 14mm would be the same, but can't say for sure. You can see for yourself whether or not you need to shim by placing the chip in position on the lens flange, then compare it to one or two of your other lenses. Ultimately the ship needs to make good contact with the spring pin contacts in your Canon body.

Purchased a chip last night on ebay (forgot the seller's name) and hop eto have it here next week. Until then, will use LV for focus help. Much easier on my NEX 5 since it has 14x instead of 10x. Thanks for the insight and will hopefully get it on right once it gets here! Thanks!
