Wow...
I go on a shoot and when I come back BOOM this has exploded. Where could I even possibly begin to address this?
Let me start with the semantics that caused a few distress. Perhaps I could have chosen a better word than "review." No, I am not Rob Galbraith and nowhere in this post did I claim that I was or that I am anywhere capable of producing the content that Rob does.
The reality is that the title for the thread "My personal account of using a Profoto Batpac on location in conjunction with a D1 1000 AIR monolight written for the Profoto Blog even though I was not paid or compensated to create this content, rather merely as a springboard for my own photographic career on a high profile blog" was too long for a title on FM. Its sort of a run on sentence too... In my humble opinion, I thought "Review" was a bit more succinct- but apparently it was not received that way.
I am not on this forum to "deceive" FM community members - if I was I could have posted all this content on my personal blog and directed people there. I could have used tinyURL or one of the other services to mask the link so upon clicking someone would have went, "Wow. How did I end up on the Profoto site?" I think the introduction and the link was pretty transparent, again sorry if I offended anyone on the forum by my misguiding you. Maybe I should look into a disclaimer before each link with an animated GIF of "WARNING- You are being redirected to an external blog."
Speaking of transparency- let me get as transparent as I can be:

I think that is enough for transparency...
The reality is that I am a working photographer that uses Profoto gear. FM and other forums are designed to share information about how we do what we do, what we use and why. This is the Lighting & Studio Technique forum right? After rereading my blog post, yes, it does in fact talk about lighting and, believe it or not, a bit of technique... It may not be as detailed as some may like – detailing t.5 or t.1 numbers, power draw on recycle etc. The fact of the matter is while those numbers are incredibly important it was not the main concern of my blog. If you read it, you would see that I was more focused on giving a brief overview of the technology and then an account of what it was like to incorporate the Batpac into my workflow. I think if people want the detailed tech info, they go to an appropriate outlet for that like Rob Galbraith, dpreview or the like. While I am sure there are a number of people on here that may appreciate that, I am willing the general population wants to know if a product fits into their workflow, works with their gear and will help them create the photos their clients require.

I gave my account, hopefully answering some of their questions.
I am not here to point fingers, hijack threads, cause drama, or as it was so eloquently put “brazenly post links” that I am not supposed to. I am here to let photographers that there are options to safely power their D1, Compact and Acute systems, a laptop, a refrigerator or any device with max. 600W power consumption. This is good to know because according to the link that was posted earlier:
“The Vagabond II is designed specifically for powering Paul C. Buff, Inc. products and that we cannot make any claim for suitability with products from other manufacturers, nor can we accept any liability for any damage that might be caused to such equipment.”
I like knowing that when I plug in my Profoto gear to a Batpac it is going to give me the power I need without damaging my investment I have made in lighting equipment.
