Sounds like your adapter is missing the arm to control the aperture lever. That or the adaptal mount isn't working correctly, or maybe the adapter is turning all the way onto the adaptall mount.
Hmm on the adapter i do see that screw that sticks out and hits the aperture lever .. although not sure if its the mount or adapter but when i put the adapter on and turn it until it ocmes to a stop, sometimes the lens will come off of the adapter when im trying to take the lens off the camera.
