I was out in Golden Gate park and really wanted to get a good growth after death shot with some natural objects. I spotted this little guy on what appears to be a dead redwood tree.
It's interesting how rich a dead tree can actually be for a small sprout like this. I tried to capture both the life and death within the same focal plane (which explains the focus on the bark and the sprout). Thanks!

It took a few shots to get that right. I had to lean at an angle, with the sprout just on the same plane using a 50mm. After a cramp in my leg, I finally got it!
