No way Rafael, both 300 & 400 ED non-IF are among the most sharp lenses in my collection. Anyway, good attempt
Jose,
How stiff is the focus of your 400 ED non-IF? Mine is in "Rafael condition" but the focus is probably the stiffest of my Nikkor lenses. It is smooth throughout (no spots catching) but just harder to turn than others.
Wasn't sure if this was characteristic of the lens or not. Thinking probably because of the non-IF design, more mass to move?
I actually sort of like it and is only an issue when I need to go from close focus to far focus quickly and vice versa.

George
Yes George, it is reasonably stiff, but after I ask a lubrication for my optic technician, the focus throw became a little bit more smooth. Anyway the distance run by the lhelicoidal from MFD to infinity is truly large, so it is not a good lens for action, for this the ED-ID version (n the realm of MF Nikkors) is the answer.
Mine is not in "Rafael condition" (= 11 from a scale of 1 to 10 ), but the optics looks like good.

yes - quite a gang in shadow form.
My favorite is the one you have from there that includes the town - simply stunning. One day I hope to see Northern Lights like that! I will be in Alaska for a meeting in mid-March. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Lights and clear skies! - even if it isn't photographable, just to experience that.
