Just dropped by to say a quick hello. Since I was here last, I’ve taken 6 pictures total. Have totally lost the will to shoot at all. My health hasn’t been awesome. Been having a lot of pain in my feet because of my now worsening diabetic neuropathy. I have spots on my feet that are permanently numb, and others that the nerves constantly fire in pain. Getting hard to move around on bad days.
Also found out why I’m always exhausted and falling asleep at any time. I have severe sleep apnea. I stop breathing between 40-80 times per hour. Because of this, my body is in a constant survival mode and I rarely get even close to deep sleep. Now I have to take a whole new group of meds so I don’t have a heart attack and die.
Doctors aren’t sure which came first, but often one can cause the other. My eyes are in a constant state of flux and without AF, my keeper rate is maybe 1%. In the coming weeks, I will be slowly liquidating my kit, will probably pick up a small point and shoot for the few shots I’m asked to take. I’m also not really getting any help at home, so this is really wearing on me. I think my family is scared and don’t know what to do or say and as such, I’m often feeling like a stranger in my own home. I still have to cook for everyone and I do most of the chores involving the now 4yo. It sucks.
Sorry for unloading on you all. Some of the only people I can talk to anymore. ...Show more →
So sorry to hear this latest news Kevin. Be strong.
The shot below is with the Z6 attached to the Wista VX Field Camera. Using the Large Format Nikkor-W 135mm f/5.6.
This is a 6 shot stitch using the Fotodiox Z to 4x5 Graflok adapter. This adapter replaces the viewfinder glass of the large format camera and allows approx 8.8cm x 4.3cm capture.
The difference in doing a shot like this vs a standard 6 shot stitch is in this case you are essentially moving the sensor within the image circle of the lens vs 6 individual shots of a camera/lens.
You really can't appreciate the resolution from the web post, but it is sharp corner to corner.
Second shot shows the Z mounted to the rear of the camera. The Z mount is offset vertically from center, so to get the 6 shots you take 3 shots (slide the adapter left, center, right), then rotate the entire back 180 degrees and take another set of 3 (left, center, right).
A fun option when you don't want to shoot large format film or use a medium format back.
Samy - FYI by using a Z mount adapter, the shorter flange distance allows for infinity focus of the 135mm. I don't think this would be possible using an F mount back. My calculations show it is close to 58mm equivalent or there about.
I guess that is the western approach to one of the trailheads on that side of the park, like Cedar Grove and Road's End. It looks similar to the landscape east of Fresno above Huntington Lake, which is a road you don't want to take with an RV or any other larger vehicle (Kaiser Pass road - it's pretty gnarly.
So very sorry to hear you are going through such a tough time. We are all thinking of you, care about you, and above all hoping you are feeling better soon. You are part of the MF family and I do hope you will keep coming here and updating us, viewing images, and venting when necessary, even if MF is not possible at the moment.
