*I'm really uncomfortable with the 50 as my walkabout; I've tried it for a few trips now and tell myself I'll make it work. But I think I do prefer something wider.
LEIGHTON? Who would have thought you and I would each have a photo posted on the same page of this thread? Of course, they say that holidays are the time when "family" gets together. We've been part of the MFNG family for a LONG time, so it makes sense.
Your sentiments George are right on point. This is actually the tenth year since the ninth anniversary in August of this year marks the COMPLETION of nine years of posts. We've done an amazing job of keeping this thread both alive and civil. I'll take a very small amount of credit for that but the majority of the credit comes from the fact we've chosen a topic of conversation which in itself is so fine. Most of us are smitten with the beauty of these Nikon manual focus lenses and all of us love turning the focusing ring. That the lenses still perform so well on the newest cameras makes the whole adventure worth pursuing and the lenses worth celebrating. This is especially the case when the latest and greatest goes for north of two thousand dollars.
I've been an infrequent guest over the last few years, but for those who may not know, the vast bulk of the posts noted to the left were made on this thread... certainly more than ten percent of the total posts. No doubt that was because of what George refers to... feeling supported AND inspired by the others who showed up and posted their photos. Thanks everyone for making your presence known through comments and through photos. It is nice to know I can join the conversation whenever I wish.
Happy New Year everyone and blessings to your families.

Curtis, it is always a pleasure to hear from you. I hope that you will post more often during the coming year, actually it looks like the thread runs much better when you are there… -)
Your participation always brightens my day Philippe not only because of the beautiful world you call home and share with us, but also your approach to taking photos. It has been a delight watching the evolution of your work. I know there have been multiple influences on your work but the conversation you had both on and off the thread with Ben was a delight to witness. Such fun we all had with our irreverent friend from Down Under. And, of course, his offer of Nikki came when this thread was FLYING. The year she traveled around the world was such fun... a hundred posts a day as pages flew by.
For those who don't know what I'm talking about, check the WWW at the bottom of this post and you'll be taken to the blog Leighton created so participants photos would all be in one place. We called it the "Great Nikon Lens Adventure." It was wonderful reading the concluding post and remembering what a fine time that was.
But now the thread is a rather sleepy place with good friends sharing their work. Makes me want to post a photo! Alas, I'm sitting at my MacBook Air and all my photos are attached to my iMac in the other room.
Cold winter day here
I believe it is about 63 degrees I am the only one out around here
First time I have been out with the camera since June
so I go to the place where I always test new things and the Z6 feels new to me
The 45/2.8 feels a little larger with the FTZ on it

Same to you
I am celebrating with non alcoholic beer and no matter how many I drink
I can't get a buzz Tried the Heineken, Bucklers and Coors Edge
Still no Buzz
May have to resort to another vice
Reagan good to see you back and DOUBLY GLAD you took a shot of a bench. I recall you took a shot of one at Disney Market when You, Ray and I were there. Plus yesterday I found a whole bunch of folders I took when my legs were broken and you and Ray came to visit. I echo your comments in that this thread is one of my joys in life. Sorta like a Jimmy Stewart movie.
Good to see you Curtis and Leighton too.
Last week went to St, Leo's Abbey and the Chapel was filled with smoke from the incense used in an earlier funeral. So yesterday Robin and I went back and took the NOCT with the purpose of shooting PANO's. (Its my way out of the doldrums. Each shot 12-15 frames and the wonder of Adobe made the shots possible. Unfortunately the site limits size so these are reduced so it is within specs.
Chin, Reagan, Leighton, Ken H, Jose all on one page... seems like old times.
Reagan drinking non-alcoholic beer? ? ? What is the world coming to! Leighton, Reagan AND Curtis all drinking non-alcoholic beer.
I don't think you'll get much buzz from any of it Reagan, but I'll give a shout out to Clausthaler which George mentioned some time ago. They have it at a great price at Traders and it is excellent... German brewed by a company that makes ONLY non-alcoholic beer. It is very tasty. I'll crack open a bottle this evening and toast all of you. Great seeing you on the thread!
2020 marks my 10th year of shooting Nikon MF.
I am so glad that I found this thread. Such a fun time I had with Nikki, 85mm f1.8 H.C. Lots of brown boxes with great anticipations. This whole experience kept me going while having my 3 kids.

I can't find Clausthaler locally, so I'm sticking to Bucklers. Funny thing is...Bucklers is made by Heineken, but to me, taste better than the Heineken labelled beer.
Turtle Island because it looks like a turtle?
We spotted this when the driver brought us up to a cafe perched on a mountain overlooking the island.
I asked to be brought to the beach so Raylan could see black volcanic sand up close. Just read that the island itself is an active volcano, oops.
I... cleaned up the beach using Photoshop.
Just to chime in with everyone else, this thread has been and continues to be a great inspiration and welcoming place to share. Thank you all and a Happy New Year!
