In previous discussions about the 25-50, it was determined that setting it as a 50 f/4 worked best

Thanks Ray and Ken, I like that style, especially on a wet grey morning. Not much else to work with. Serge, I like the work in Central Park. I lived there for almost 10 years and never discovered them till late. Imagine I’d be there every weekend and fall if I lived there now.

Several of you are making me miss the 25-50 too. I’m guessing it handles well on the Df? Any input on that camera in particular? What Non-CPU do you set?

I missed that discussion. Will have to see what difference (if any) I can discern. I use 25 f4.0 on my D700 and D800.

It was a chilly morning. As to the water temp, I was not about to get in to find out ;-)

The winter doldrums for shooting has set in, now just processing until the snow flies, or we get some nice atmospheric light. This one from last weekend, 135 f3.5 Q. Or I go to the museums.

I use 50mm also on the 25-50. Somewhere along the way I learned that using the highest FL was best and followed that on MF zooms. I am curious to see if YMMV.

When I had the 25-50, that is what I found too. Setting non-cpu at 50/f4 worked best. Great lens.

Starr's Mill in Fayetteville, GA. Fuji X-T2, Nikkor-O 35mm f/2

I was hoping for a little more color, but I forgot that the mill is mostly surrounded by pine trees. The oaks were just beginning to turn.

Unsuspecting participant in a test of the 8.5cm 1.5 S-mount lens on Z6. The lens does not feel quite stable on the adapter, waiting for a different adapter before I will venture out with this lens on the Z.

The weekend ended with no pictures taken, too much work around the house. Check the live beings on the bottom right.

nikkor 16mm 3.5 ai Z6 weekend ended at 80F 01 Tierra Caliente by Rafael Batlle, on Flickr

Here is blasphemy: a non-nikkor lens photo, I have few non nikkor lenses, one is a Perkin Elmer solid cat 800mm f11, don't really use it but wanted to try and compare to the 800mm 5.6 ED IF, but there is really no comparison, pleasing image for the solid cat rendition but sharpness does not compare at all.

Jay, that looks a little too close to the edge, especially the first one. Must be worthwhile scenery.

Rafael and Peter, cool sunstars with the 16 fisheye.

Scott, the Starrs Mill building itself is colourful.

Ray, not looking forward to the constraints of winter. Today's not too bad here though.

Phong, colourful koi!!!

Serge, some day I need to get back to Central Park, very pleasant area.

Scott, well composed snow scene, I guess for the next few months that's going to be a common sight from you

David, wow, amazing sunset (or sunrise?) at the beach.

Ken, cool night scenes with the 58. That sure did fish out Reagan from the shadows. Have you pre-ordered the 0.95 version?

Mathieu, pleasant fall glimpses a couple pages back!

Ani, back to D80? Very cool.

Subidiom - good reminder of what the vintage 5.8cm 1.4 can do!

Probably not since its way to big to carry and to finicky to use without a tripod. I’m a loyal Nikon junkie and it beats the heck out of me why they produced such a large, weighty an unwieldy lens. The 58mm 1.2 was and is their apex lens. I guess they couldn’t improve it !

Clouds cleared just enough to grab a shot of the Mercury transit today (the little black dot is Mercury). Was hoping to have clear skies to get a composite of the whole event but am happy with the one

Next chance here is 2032. Will try again then

Reflex-Nikkor 1000mm f/11

Thought I would post a shot of the set up too. Haven't had a gear shot lately.

If I took that image with my D810, I'd have about 8 Mercuries on the sun surface, all of various sizes

Nice shot - impossible here, because we're in the middle of the third snow storm in fall. Low of 4F tonight. This is still early November...

Cold is coming here tomorrow but warm compared to you. Low 20's

I did enjoy watching the snow during the Packers game yesterday (from the comfort of my couch)

Nice series Matt, but I really love the last one with the pelicans and Oak Island Lighthouse.
