Still having problems seeing some images, Ray's Larch as an example!
Getting HTTP Error 503s

Yep, Zenfolio issues again. Just checked their status page..... whatever Zenfolio is doing or not doing they keep having issues. It's a good thing I'm not really doing any business on the website - I'd be really upset. Actually, I'd probably have changed providers if I was doing business on the website.
A little off topic, but I know there are a few Df's floating around on here so thought I'd ask. Finally got one (again) and would like to add a split prism or similar focusing screen to it. Any recommendations? Will occasionally be used with AF lenses, but mostly NAI Nikkors. Thanks in advance.

Matt, I used the Nikon K3 screen modified by Focusingscreen.com without issue for the time I had my Df. Only sold it last year to get the Z6.
If you Google "Df K3 Focusing Screen" you should get to the right page. It came will everything needed to install.

Ray, that has to be one of the most distressing pictures I've seen on this site. It's difficult to be sure with this screen resolution, but it looks as if at least 16 of the 19 or so people in the image are engaged in a virtual world oblivious of the beauty of the real world around them and the unpredictable possibilities of interacting with real people.
Well captured, but sad commentary.
I think they were all engaged in the virtual world, some of them just happened to look up for a few seconds. I must admit, it's a conscious effort for me to enjoy my surroundings when I'm out photographing, especially when I travel somewhere that's a long way from home and I don't think I would be back anytime soon. I'm happy to say that I've seen real progress in just enjoying the present time for myself, with the camera securely put away. Perhaps that comes with age but I know it for sure it comes with the company I'm in when I travel.

Ray - a lovely image that sparked my curiosity. I'd never seen a conifer that is deciduous so I googled it to find that the European Larch's latin name is Larix Decidua - one never stops learning
Did some learning myself too Peter. At first I thought it was a dead/dying conifer, jumped on the botanical garden's website and traced it down that way. There are few specimens there and it really makes for a colorful walk.

Follow Up... Was looking at the screens and found another fellow that used an S type... any thoughts on if/why K3?
It was available when I got my Df?
Seriously. I got the Df in the first preorder so I went with a split prism K3 because it was available soon after. Once I got it I really never looked at alternatives.

I bet split prism focusing wasn't as good as that Leica though.

The lens selling is about to start for me. I have diabetic retinopathy, stage 1. I have a handful of appointments setup to see if it can be stopped where the damage is currently and possibly corrected with new glasses. Issue is, my close up vision is beat to hell. I can barely see through a viewfinder with my glasses on and I have to use maximum diopter strength to have a chance to see anything with the naked eye. All this, plus the nerve damage that I have in my hands and feet, adds up to making MF glass damn near impossible. I’ve been trying to use Live View, but it’s hit and miss. I’m really struggling with what to keep. I finally got an F2 after decades of waiting and I can’t use it. My N90 I can use with AF glass, just have to trust it’s exposure meter. I can still use my TLR though, it’s built in magnifying glass is very nice. I can’t read the exposure meter on it, but I can read my handheld meter. Sadly, looks like anything Nikon is going to have to be AF for me from now on. I will probably keep my 24/2.8 though. I only ever zone focus with that one anyway. :/...Show more →
Kevin,
I'm so sorry to hear that your vision problems have gotten so bad. I hope and pray that the doctors can find a way to stop and possibly reverse your problems. Please keep us posted.

There is a good possibility that they can stop it’s progress, but they cannot reverse the damage done (at least with current technology).
