Hi, everyone:

Samy, excellent photograph of the Moon, Jupiter and three of its satellites.

Regina, great capture of the red rose with the 105/2.5.

OffTrail, excellent series with the 35-300. I believe Rafael is a fan of this lens as well.

Ray, great light in your sunset series with the 85/2.

James, excellent photograph of Ellie. The black & white processing is great as well.

I squeezed the Chrysler Building (far left) on this one.

Did some more shooting yesterday. Interesting (to me) is keeper rates (first cull). The Nikkor-S.C 55mm f1.2 ai'd at iso 2500 was 37%, and the 28-200mm f3.5 afd was 61%, and I was shooting as fast as I could at 2500-8000 iso. If I compare image quality between the 55mm manual focus on the Canon 5D mark III, and the 28-200 zoom on the Nikon D850 - the 55mm is better, but the zoom is very very good - better than I expected. I can definitely make the zoom images equal the manual focus in post processing. That makes thsi zoom a keeper, Here are the Nikkor-S.C 55mm f1.2 ai'd images

Your shots look so smooth because your subjects are so photogenic. Cute too.

James, first time I have seen a photo of your granddaughter without the great smile. Perhaps some ice cream was in order.

Those familiar with film "Inferno" may recognize these views, quite a bit of it was filmed here.

Palazzo Vecchio, Hall of 500 (1494).

Ceiling with a total of 39 panels: The artwork is credited to Giorgio Vasari and his pupils, 16th century.

The side walls are decorated with scenes of Florentine victories over Sienna and Pisa. The work was originally commissioned to Michelangelo and Leonardo but was never completed, the drawings were lost.

I propose that in order to be an official Lens-Pusher, you have to have purchased at least one MF Nikkor based on the insistent recommendations of list-members, and of course you must have attempted to convince someone here that they _really_ need a specific MF Nikkor, perhaps the very one that you were "forced" into buying by another L.P.!

For me, I would never have sought out the 105/2.5 P "Sonnar" (despite being a huge fan of the 105/2.5) without the frequent "pushes from MFNG posts, and I actually ended up buying my 100/2.8E from a list-member. As a prime-snob, I'm

I think the Z5II allows you to name non-CPU lenses, and that's how I've got mine on the Z8. I've got three lenses named "75-150 f/3.5 Series E", one is 75mm f/3.5, the other is 105 f/3.5, and the third is 150 f/3.5. And I've got a button assigned so I can scroll between them without going into the menu. For the 35-200, I have 35, 105, 135, and 200mm settings.

Works well enough to be able to punch-in and check focus without getting nauseous.

I had forgotten about this feature, first came to the ZF I think. Can't bring myself to buy a new body just for this though.

Yes the Z5ii does allow you, which is to say does allow me, to identify the MF lenses. I don't recall if it allows a name per se because I just identify mine by their FL and max aperture. (Boring, no creativity at all.) I programmed the F2 button to be lens selection.

So you gave yourself three choices and that seems to work. Gotit, will try that.

Since I'm inquisitive, I must ask why you chose 105 for the mid position. A geometric average, i.e. the midpoint on a logarithmic scale, would be SQRT( 75 * 150) = 106.07. An arithmetic

I use a focal length somewhat close to the middle, maybe leaning closer to the short end. Have not rigorously checked performance or other possible issues with this. Fortunately, it's only 3 MFNG zooms for me.

When I had the original Z5 I had a 35mm lens on an adapter that incorrectly thought it was 105mm or 135mm or so. IBIS worked against me until I fixed it.

Yeah, there's been times when I forget to change the Non-CPU settings, and it's a little like being with motion sickness looking thru the viewfinder.

Thanks, Jim.

We have visited some incredible places but there is so much to see. There probably is an end out there but not for a little while.

Travel is the main reason I began to use a camera. It has been one heck of a learning experience plus lots of fun.

They were watching Tim Burton's "Nightmare before Christmas". The first Grand daughter likes it (at her house), The second grand daughter tolerated it for a couple minutes, and my grand son came to complain about the cartoon choice the first grand daughter made, It was lunch time, and no one ate anything. So, early nap time that day. I think it was only on for 3-4 minutes. It is now on our do not play again list. These kids like "Trash Truck", "Lucas the Spider", "Miss Rachel", and other newer cartoons and kid shows. The first grand daughter is a chip off the old block. Her dad, Angus (my son) use to always tell other people he was allowed to do things he wasn't allowed to do - including all his siblings. He was my second youngest, and he conned all his brothers and sister dozens of times..."dad said we could"... I they believed it! Now I bask in the parents revenge - "I hope you have a child just like you some day"
