Jim, think rule of thirds. Does the Z5 allow you to put the grid on the viewfinder? I didn't think you missed focus, just that you were attempting the rule of thirds.
Thanks! I wasn't really trying for the rule of thirds. Of course I could always crop it to make it closer. Yes, I can put a grid in the viewfinder but I can judge 1/3, 2/3 visually without it. I simply snapped that picture spontaneously because I like how it looked.

Almost got me, Jim. Almost. I think the effect you intended would be stronger if the purple filled the frame more. Specifically, it's pretty close, except for the top right corner where there's more green than purple...
Having said all that, my initial impression was "Cool, petunias, summer green"...and then you asked for an opinion .
Yeah, lumenspixel made similar suggestions. Thanks for sharing your reaction!
Yes, I did ask for opinions and I thank everyone.
I've been regretting posting this query in the PC forum. I wasn't so much interested in the composition as specifically about the focus decision. And I probably overstated the intent as being to make the viewer feel surrounded by purple. It's just that some critics (not in this thread) pounded on that question rather heavily. I just wanted to make a pretty picture. As Sigmund Freud might have said, sometime a pretty picture is just a pretty picture. But it's been educational (I think).
