Finally, more from Udaipur, Rajasthan in NW India.
Morning laundromat on the steps (ghats) next to our small hotel which like most of the accommodation next to the lake is a converted Havella. Taken from our balcony.

Siphiwe, is this your first post here? Welcome! Watch out, some of the folks here have frequent "accidents" and wake up with lenses as a result Caps should be relatively easy to find for that classic 135.
Hi Samy,
I've been a silent regular for as long as I've been registered here and been an accident waiting to happen for just as long. Just that these lenses are so scarce here and when I have come across some, the price isn't competitive compared to eq AF brothers and sisters. This was a real accident, I bid on it and magically won on a bid that seemed way below the Buy Now price. I can't complain though. I'm here now. Timing is good, the so-called "Devil" doesn't make as many appearances to tempt anymore although I fear the damage was done long ago.
I am really liking this lens in the flesh. The focus feel and throw is nothing like I expected. The little rangefinder dot works, which helps a bit with the focusing. It's a funny feeling using a cold metal lens, but it's tiny. Good tiny. There will be more, that's for sure.

In keeping with our ethos, I normally don't offer an opinion on politics, particularly US politics.
This time I have skin in the game - a son, daughter in law and 4 beautiful grandchildren living within 40 kms of Philadelphia.
God willing they will be safe!
I am pretty well versed on US history and understand the rights conferred by the 2nd amendment. What I cannot understand is the acceptance by congress of horrific annual casualties that are far greater than the 9/11 horror. In the aftermath the most draconian security legislation was introduced, two wars lasting more than 15 years costing thousands of lives were started which cannot be won but it's too much to ask to ban the sale of military weapons or introduce mandatory background checks - all to keep one lobby contributing to the politicians happy!.
This is not an invitation to an argument. However, from a distance it seems extraordinary.
I accidentally tripped and fell last week. When I woke up there was a Nikkor-Q Auto 135mm f/3.5 lens on my hand. My accidental fall cost little but I'm here to tell the story . I'm dipping my first foot in this club.
The lens is not converted and I don't know if I will find someone to do it locally but it works on my D5500, as lots of online research suggest these lenses should. It is in very good condition but came without body caps. The glass is impeccable. I'll make a plan for the caps although it would have been nice to have original ones for authenticity.
Short summary :- It's a whole new world but not as difficult to focus or get good exposure as I thought.
Here are two samples from this morning with D5500 at ISO 400 and F5.6.
I know for the Nikon 25-50, it worked better if you used 50 for the lens. Experiment with yours

Quick tech question for you guys......I have a couple old manual focus zooms from 30-40 years ago, like Vivitars and Soligors and such, and was thinking of mounting them on my Z6 and see how bad they are now that focus is on sensor. In the CPU listing in the menus, what you set the lenses at for best results. Say its something like a 24-105 f 3.5-5.6 (example only) do you enter the data on the short open end, or long end for best results.
Siphiwe, Sawubona, welcome, and congrats on coming out of hiding finally
Yes, Curtis has been hiding lately... however, there are others here willing to help you spend that money. Even I have been known to dangle a lens out there...

I've been in a photographic funk. Not shooting very much and not liking what I do shoot. Here is a modest attempt with the Df and 28/2.8 AI-s which I got back from having the oily aperture blades cleaned again. Surprisingly, my 55/2.8 Micro, which is noted for having the oily-blade problem has been trouble free (I hope I'm not jinxing it now). But the 28 has been so afflicted repeatedly. The repair technician said any lens with CRC (floating elements) is a candidate for the problem. Apparently the second helicoid that shifts the elements is in a vulnerable position for leaking lubricant. Not what I wanted to hear!
Art installation of catenary curves. Truly catenary in this case, since it is made of colored ball chain.
Actually, it just occurred to me after posting the above that there are both catenary and parabolic curves. The chains hanging down should be catenary, but the weight of the chain pulling on the suspension cables should pull them into a shape very close to a parabola.
Any mathematicians out there, correct me if I'm wrong.
I have been generally using my phone to post since returning from India which is a right royal PITA! But have just ordered a new Dell laptop with 8gb ram, full hd 15 inch screen and a 8th gen i7 cpu. Middle of the road but all i could afford. Will add ssd drive, more RAM and a decent monitor for processing work.
Maybe I will actually get round to processing the rest of the India pics !

Sawubona Siphiwe! Great entrance to this thread - a good source is Gumtree Vintage Cameras Newlands but beware. It's a horrible disease - ask Samy!
Mnumzane! Funny you mention that. I think it's the same shop I have been watching for a while. They have a bit more variety but their prices are a little more dear. They have a version of this same lens but really beat up and needing attention and too many 55mm f/3.5 Micros. I think my next will be a little wider. I'm already thinking of selling some things. I'm afflicted.

Siphiwe, that little 135mm f3.5 is a remarkable lens, sharp at all apertures. Congrats on a very useful acquisition.
And yes, I may come out of hiding even if Curtis doesn't.
Really impressed with the lens. BTW, I encourage you to come out more, even if you don't think you're putting out good product. I quite enjoy your macros.

Thank you, Laura. I'm adding you to the list of people to watch now, but you can dangle and send a lens my way anytime .
So I finally made it and got myself a new flickr account.
I´ve got a few to share from recent trips, hikes and so forth....
First one here is from a forest on a small island. More or less untouched forest which is lovely.
