Received my Z6, checked the serial number, (7401152) and guess what ? Yep, gotta send it in. 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Worse than that, my memory card and reader arrived today too.

I'll let you know when I get it Colin 😁
Its on its way from Down south as we speak, should be here tomorrow (Monday) or Tuesday.
Of course with all the talk of the new Eye AF firmware it dawned on me that I don't actually own a suitable memory card (QXD) and also that you need a card reader in order to install said firmware.
So the upshot is I have ordered a card and reader (nowhere in Cairns sells them) so will probably have a new camera that I can't actually use until they arrive !
(The seller is buying a Z7 so didn't include the QXD in the sale)
Hoping that the serial number isn't in the batch that has a VR problem and needs to be returned to Nikon 🤞😳🤞☹😲😡😲😂
Wonderful images from everyone.

For those following my "rebuild PC" on the cheap....
Here's where I'm landing....
*Pretty much the best bang for buck CPU is i5-9600K. The Ryzens are strong for multicore but the i5 is stronger for single threaded operations, and not too far behind on multicore). i7's are nice but smallish improvements for about 30% more cost, though it's probably better value if I do hold on to this setup for 8 years like the last build.
*Will get 16GB of DDR4 RAM in 2 slots, two spare DIMM slots for future expansion.
*MB with latest Intel Z390 chipset - just have to figure out how much I want to spend here, and if I want to have NVMe capability for storage / boot (specs for MB's are all over the place)
*Looks like I can either use the on-board GPU or reuse my old GPU for starters, and add one later or just spring for one likely in the $100-$150 range
*I can reuse the CPU cooler I have now, and track CPU temperatures to see if I need to upgrade. Air cooled only for me.
Will probably order the stuff by this weekend, just a little more research, and maybe waiting for some deals to come along, they seem to pop up especially on motherboards.
Back to photography, using the like button a lot. Good stuff, shout outs include the Corvette and tree series by Rafael, Jay's desert scenes, lighthouse from Scott, Ferrari (Peter) - what's not to like, and Reagan for the humor!

You'd think those hood pins would cut the aerodynamics...
I think they are mandated for safety (regular car hoods go flying after a little bump and run). Not sure if anyone ever puts tape over them to make them more streamlined, but I think they need to be accessible to emergency crews in case of fire, etc

Scrolling through my text messages on my phone today I came across one from you from New Year.
I was about to drop you a line - to find out how things were in NW England - when you posted here.
Hope all is well.
