So today, for the first time, I cooked these and gave them a try....
I am a couple days behind on the thread, so just seeing this Laura. Those morels are called Hickory Chickens around here. The season is just winding down on finding them and anyone who knows where to find them keeps it a closely guarded secret. I even had a hard time getting my brother-in-law to even say if he found some this year. I did not have a chance to get in the woods to hunt for them this spring, plus my "secret spot" has been clear cut and replaced with planted pine trees. So I will have to look elsewhere next year. Last time I spotted anyone selling them fresh was at a farmers market in Chapel Hill years ago and they were going for $38 a pound.
John, great shots of Slovenia. Last time I was in that part of the world it was still Yugoslavia. That shows how long ago it was, and I was shooting with only a Minox 35. The Nikkormat stayed home since I was living out of a backpack for 6 months.

We really liked Slovenia. Highly recommended.
Slovenia (and Croatia) look like amazing countries. Sure would like to take a couple of months and make a loop through Italy and the former Yugoslavia countries, like Slovenia and Croatia!

I tried it, but it wasn't as good as Bucklers, which is sort of ironic since it is made by Heineken too.
I can't afford that fancy stuff that Curtis drinks.
Fancy stuff at $6.99 for a six pack? I haven't found any non-alcoholic beers for less... granted, I'm buying for a store that prices things pretty competitively. So I drink either Clausthaler "Dry-Hopped" or "Original" and am a happy man. I bet your Bucklers costs more...
So it is almost bedtime for this old-timer in California, but I'd promised photos of a car show in San Rafael... what an adventure that turned out to be. When I inserted the SD card in the back of my computer it appeared to work just fine, but all it gave me were JPG files with no access to the NEF files. I monkeyed around all last evening and gave up. It was only later this morning that I sought help online with retrieving files from what may be a corrupted SD card. I've actually had difficulties with that card before. I found software with a free trial offer that seemed to find MANY more photos on that 32 GB card than I'd shot during two and a half hours of leisurely rambling through downtown. But when I tried to download the files they said... Oops... now it is time to BUY the software for $89 since I needed that to make the download. Interestingly, DropBox gave me a dialogue box and asked whether I wanted them to download the files. I said yes, and the MacBook Air slowly downloaded everything from my Saturday shoot. I loaded those files on a different SD card and imported them on my iMac. All the photos were useable so I was greatly relieved. I did try to salvage the other card and by doing a serious reformatting I was able to renew it.
So I'll share a few photos from the day before going to bed. I chatted with quite a few owners and definitely enjoyed shooting. I used the 25-50 f/4 AI-s the first hour and a half, then mounted the 135 f/2.8 Q.C. AI. Enjoy. I'm relieved I was able to get something out of the day... after waiting a year for a car show within easy driving distance.

Don't know, Barbara does the shopping. I can't find Clausthaler anywhere close by and I'm not driving across the mountain to Charlottesville to get it. Bring some with you when you drop by.

I've heard they are expensive when they show up in stores. There was a family that found 730 of them in their "secret spot" just north of here. I will have to experiment with someone who knows how to season them, next time.

I'm now at Kuala Lumpur Airport killing time with some Q&D developments.
Bats flying out the Deer Cave at Mulu National Park.
Every end of the day (except when's raining) 2-3 million bats are leaving the cave looking for food. The consume 15 tons (no typo) of insects every day.!
It took about 45 minutes before the last one was out, very unreal sight.
