Season's greetings to everyone. Lovely to see Chuong and Ram drop by if only for a moment. And congrats on the bookcase Chuong, as well as your good fortune with that collection of what look like beautiful books... perfect for the new bookcase.
I was all excited to download photos this afternoon so I could share something fresh, but for some strange reason a Lexar 32 GB SD card is not recognized when I slip it into the reader mounted on the rear of my iMac. I believe I've used this card before without a problem but then I'm not sure of that. I did mount a SanDisk 32 GB SD card and Lightroom recognized it immediately. I don't have an alternative reader, nor do I have a cord that fits the Df so those photos will have to wait arrival of a cord.
I've loved what folks have been posting. I also found myself with a bit of twitchiness in my finger looking at that rather gorgeous 200 f/2 AI-s on offer from JayT at a tantalizing price of $1295. It is the final version of this outstanding lens. I've seen them listed on E-Bay north of $2,000. I know you can buy older versions for a lower price, but this seems a winner on every level. I'd love it if someone on this thread could pick it up. I checked the weight on photosynthesis and it simply would do too much damage to my shoulder. Here's a link...
Thanks much, Rafael. The "tree" is just some broken pieces of plate glass someone dumped by the side of a road in the desert. Love the look of your 8mm shots; realistic and abstract at the same time. Very cool!
Chin, great shot of your little guy.
Leighton, your early morning shots have a great feel to them.
Samy, I really like the slide player image from London.
Curtis, very nice one from the arboretum.
Laura, beautiful card.
Scott, it's only 1:00pm here, but I'm ready for desert after seeing your pics.
Ken, very nice sea shots. Here are a couple night waves taken with the 28/2.8.

My apologies for not being around lately...I go through stretches of bad health sometimes and get grumpy...love the photos, the old cameras, the fisheyes, etc., what a great place to visit and I'm glad I did.
I hope those of you who are on holiday have a safe and content one, and those of you who have to work will have a holiday coming up soon...maybe at New Year's?
In another life I was a musician - if you are interested in a peaceful instrumental about the Winter Solstice...here is a piece I recorded a few years ago. It's entirely played on synthesizer except for a bit of flute and some ambient sounds such as wolves and fires. I do hope you enjoy it, especially if you can listen on a dark night before a fire.
Wonderful to have so many of our friends drop in to say hello. I guess in seven plus years we've touched a great many lives through the simple formula of appreciation for craftsmanship in the form of these beautiful lenses, shared with a mix of generosity, kindness and occasional humor. What delight!
As a holiday greeting I'll share a prayer I came upon while drafting a letter I will share with family and friends. It seems appropriate to this moment and this corner of cyberspace.
May we find each other in the silence between the words.
May we heal the loneliness of our expertise with the wisdom of our service.
May we honor in ourselves and all others the deep and simple impulse to live,
to find sacred space and open land.
May we remember that the yearning to be holy is a part of everyone,
And the only hope for the next thousand years.
