Greeetings to all. I did lose my photo mojo after Abner's passing 9/24. Want to get it back and may do so by getting out of the house. Did go to Balboa Park but it was inundated with people for some festival so I could not find parking within reasonable distance as I cannot walk far due to minor surgery (Will be fine in a couple of weeks).
So I did what I do and recorded the approach of spring at home with the 8mm 2.8, super sharp except for the very edge. My engineering mind can deal with spherical mapping in a lens - meaning I love them.

Wow! That's a lot of accumulated snow.
Hope the Porsche is tucked up in a heated garage.
Yes and no. Yes it is a lot of snow! No the Porsche is not tucked up in a heated garage. It is sound asleep under a blanket of whiteness. This snow isn't going away any time soon, alas.
We had about another 5 inches after I took those pics. As of an hour ago it was still snowing. Fortunately we have not lost power. Boston hit the official definition of a blizzard some hours ago. Places on Cape Cod reported winds of 77mph last time I checked, and much if not all of the outer Cape have lost power.

Indeed it was! Gee, your neighborhood looks a lot like ours, snow everywhere! Oh wait, it's just the next town over.
Nice pics. They capture it!
Thanks, Jim. We waited until 4 p.m. to shovel the snow. What a mistake. The plow-in was so heavy and packed that it was tough to clear, even with the snow blower. My son really had a hard time with it!
So sorry, Rafael, complicated grief is rough.Understood about the lost mojo, I overcompensated and went out and shot a lot of stuff, just to get out of the house. I'm now stuck in lost mojo land too, and thinking it might be a good idea to "go see someone" for help. Work isn't helping much when people call off and you have to cover for them, but I found out more about why this one person calls off and I am understanding about that even if I do cuss up a storm...
Go grab a couple of lenses, and go out. You have a virtual hug from here.

That's a bit of snow there. Hope the left side of the driveway got cleared out to avoid the plow plugging. Don't forget to get the roof of the car... Did you see the story about the plow in Kingston that had a tree go through the windshield?
Yeah, bummer about waiting so long. That wet heavy stuff is the kind of stuff to set alarms every two hours to go out and tackle what's there. There will be plenty of practice this week.

Yeah, I went out and shoveled three times. The second shoveling was just 5", the third just 1" but to dig out the other car. At least the snow was lighter than predicted. We play this game where we shovel out the end of the driveway, than half an hour later a plow comes along and blocks it up again, then we shovel out again, then a plow comes along again. The trick to winning that game is persistence, you play long enough that eventually the plow drivers give up. But you have to approach it with the right mindset - like baseball it's a marathon, not a sprint.

Definitely not a through street.
Definitely not a thorough street (they didn't build the other end). But Concord has a Thoreau Street. I should drive out there just to get some MFNG pics.
It definitely has a different look to it than my other lenses. Works great stopped down as well, but this lens comes with me when I know I want to get some wide open shots with character. Another classic MFNG that’s worth getting and can be found inexpensively. My copy is non-AI as well with the scalloped ring. It’s also my fastest and only f1.4 lens.

Ray, these look great!
I love the rendering of 5.8 cm f1.4 (mine is non ai) I should have tried one many many years ago - but better late than never.
Are you at home in NYC?
If so, then share some pictures of the snow please.
Colin
Hi, Colin:
I am around, took the first from a window. The Triborough Bridge is normally visible. Could not get around the city yesterday given the storm conditions plus the mass transit system was closed until around 5:00 PM.

Rafael, Grief is a sneaky one. It can attack with the slightest provocation, or become a defining familiar kind of comfort. Keep pushing yourself to new memories it helps with the healing.
Very true James. I lost my mojo after my father died and still really haven’t got it back. I volunteer to do photo shoots for things at my daughter’s school, but beyond that, I rarely get out to shoot anymore. I usually talk myself out of it and use my phone if something strikes my fancy.

Did anyone else see this announcement? MonsterAdapter is coming out with an LA-FZ11 adapter for Nikon MF lenses to Z that will pickup the aperture ring position using the rabbit ears on the lens.
It would enable more shooting modes with MF lenses and would appear to be able to record shooting aperture as selected with the aperture ring.

Interesting: And they said it couldn't (well, wouldn't) be done! They went for "maximum compatibility" by relying on the rabbit-ear linkage rather than the AI ridge (though AF Nikkors that lack the rabbit-ears are left out with this adapter).
