Hi, does anyone have experience and opinions on the 20/3.5 Ai? I just got one as a part of a beat up F4E bundle deal. Wasn’t initially interested in the lens bit figured why not.
The seller also threw in a nice looking F3+MD-4 that he said he could not get to work. I’m running test rolls on both bodies now and it seems the F3 only needed fresh batteries. I had forgotten just how nice the F3 was to handle. Had a F3T a few years ago but lost it gor stolen unfortunately.
So while I was hunting for a nicely priced F4, I think I'll keep the F3 instead. ...Show more →
Good deal, I have the AI version. I’m a fan, liked it better than the older 62mm filter version. I wouldn’t say it’s bitingly sharp but it’s plenty sharp across the frame if used right and can keep its sharpness up close or into the periphery. Good sun stars and flare resistance, CA seems to be its worst sin but processors are getting better and better at cleaning that up, and of course it’s improved in B&W. Samples below.

It has 52 mm filter thread. Overall size about the same as the 24/2.8.

Wow, great to see so many, and so varied, examples. Really appreciated!
James, I was not aware that lenses could be stacked, very creative.
Matt, excellent series with the 20/3.5. I have been tempted several times to add it the collection, the flare resistance is terrific on this lens.
Canary Wharf, London:
It took a while to take this shot as it is a very busy walkway. It connects to the Canada Place complex which is a substantial mall with at least one nice Pub.
Serge,
Really colorful walkway. I assume you spent some time at that pub? Somebody long ago figured the stacking lens idea out. My first attempt had serious vignetting issues, and was very dark in the viewfinder. Looks like I can cover 2X-12X full frame rather easily with existing gear.

Still working out lens stacking options. Two combos today on a 1979 penny - dusted off for the second shot as I didn't see all the crud until I shot it.

I've decided to work on clearing my folder of potentially post-worthy photos, in which I found the following water reflection images from fall 2023. The lenses I used are identified in the captions.

Glen, this is a really beautiful series - definitely post worthy! TFS

To think these have been hidden for nearly two years! Some people.
Nice collection.
5th image - is that frisbee golf?
