The only film I ever shot was 35mm.
My father however, owned a 120 format camera. I have it somewhere.
A few years ago I found a whole bunch of 120 negatives that he had stored in tins so I brought a bunch home and scanned them.
Alas, my sister thought the remaining ones were junk and threw them out along with the 1:1 prints. Uugh! (That's the polite version.)
So, if anyone wants to see a picture of me on my Christening day with my Grandfather then go and take a look here:
Colin,
That is a wonderful image which those old analog cameras, lenses, and films captured so well.
When I switched to digital I owned 39 film cameras and uncountable lenses that I had collected for many years. However, the Nikon D2X, D1X (in 10 megapixel mode), and the Canon 5D were all superior to 35mm film with the exception of Kodak's 32 iso/asa Panatomic-X, and 25 iso/asa Technical Pan B&W films. Plus no dust. I sold the whole lot, and took the dive. The paper had me continue shooting film, but my personal film days were over by 2005. I still think digital is superior to film, but a medium format camera with a slow film are probably equal to a 20-24 megapixel digital body. It really is the film as the limiting factor in analog image quality - imo.

I received my adapter and mounted a beautiful 55/2.8 onto the A7RV and took my first shot, and was happily surprised how easy it was to focus accurately through the EVF. This shot of my old boy Nate (going on 17) was taken wide open at f/2.8, 1/60th, ISO 2500, with my standard Lightroom processing. Old glass looks great!
The pics below that are from an eBay listing, I have that minty 28/2.8 AI-S on the way. Probably going to pick up the 135/2.8 again, and still thinking 85/2 also. This should set me for awhile to go out on some shoots with only the Nikkors....Show more →
Welcome over here. Been following your film work on the Film is not Dead thread for a while now.

Welcome back to the film world Jim. Its just too much fun not getting an image with one click (really!). The 6X6 frame is interesting to use, makes one think a bit more than the usual landscape or portrait orientation we normally work with.
Hopefully at least some of your new film work is with Nikkors and will show up here.
Samy,
I'm afraid that for medium format that won't happen. The last Nikkor using medium format camera I owned was the Bronica S. Now I am crazy about folding cameras & TLR. Zeiss Ikon, Isolette, Bessa, Ikoflex, Yashicaflex, etc. I have about 8 folding bodies that shoot between 4.5x6 to 6x9cm - all of which fit into my shirt pocket (except the TLR). My criteria now is small, and light if possible. I even went crazy on 35mm film bodies - Zeiss Ikon, Kodak Reflex series, Yashica Electro 35, and the Nikon N90s. I literally shot hundreds of thousand of frames with the N90, and N90s - and not one of them was with film until within the last few months. It still is a great camera. So not "here", but Fred's Film is not dead forum. I do have a new to me dslr, and I finally found a good ai-eos adapter. So, digital Nikkor shots here will happen.

I like TLRs as well, I’m just to chicken to use mine. Late serial number Minolta Autochord. When I got it (was thrown in with a trade I did many years ago) I was impressed with its condition. When I opened it up, on a small piece of paper was a quality control label. I don’t think this one has ever been used. I took the camera to have the gummy light seals replaced and I think I forgot to remove the QA paper. Being 50+ years old, it needs a good cleaning. I hope to have that done over Christmas.

Looking Up. Taken with the 25-50 f4 Ais, f4, 25 sec, iso 3200, D750. This old lens did a respectable job except for some "batwing" coma on the corners. Thanks for looking.

From a past fall shoot in Utah, with the 180mm f/2.8 AI-S. This lens was legendary among photojournalists back in the film days when I was a newspaper photographer. I was one of the few Canon users at that time but all my fellow shooters packed the 180/2.8 in their Domke canvas shoulder bag.

For the last 6-7 weeks my retirement has been on hold.
Outside of a weeks' vacation in NYC I have been back at work - doing some consulting for the company I used to work for. Things aligned so I was happy to help out. The upside is an unexpected windfall - so a Z8 was purchased in the Black Friday sales. I have not had much chance to use it, let alone configure it.
Here are a few 55/2.8 micro images depicting a re-kindled passion mine - tennis.
Some people gather guitars I have a cupboard full of racquets. The Wilson Clash is my new weapon. Tennis tech has moved on a lot from the 20+ year old racquets I have been playing with this summer. Think D70 versus Z8.
As mentioned, the chairs in that first shot make it! Great eye, capture, and PP. Congrats on the Z8 as well. Intereting to see if that will replace your Z6 as a carry around.

Really is mazing what we can get away with if we don't pixel peep. I always cast an eye on the large aperture 20mm and think about selling it since f4 and denoise software is so capable these days. just can't do it yet.

Today I shot a couple with the 500 f8 mirror lens on the Z5
This little female sunbird came to drink from our deck - range at about 4 metres and illustrates what a difficult lens this is to use.
The DOF is very narrow at close range as can be seen from the bill, feet and perch. This was handheld at 1/500 but theres little if any motion blur.
Are we sharing a brain?! I just uncovered my 500/8 and thought about taking it for a stroll with my Z5. I might have to take it to work with me on Wednesday.

Great specimen and capture Peter.
I would love to use it. I think I even have some film. I don’t have any filters and I have no idea how to even load the film! Operation…?!
In all seriousness though, the focus lever is the weak point of the camera and when focusing gets stiff, it needs a good CLA. I hope to get it fixed and tried out in the new year.

Good thinking Kevin!
It will be interesting to see the results - I've put mine on a tripod this morning and am focused on that littrle stick waiting for the sunbirds to come in for a drink. A little further away with a touch of EC - let's see what happens. The plane of focus obviously becomes less important with distance and I'll try for some birds at longer range later this week.
